God's Encouragement For Your Time Of Loss Words of Comfort and Hope from the Holy Bible
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain. -Psalm 25.l6-18a God, who came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ, knows the pain that comes when death separates you from a loved one. God has promised never to leave you or forsake you (Hebrews 13.5). Jesus is now extending his arms to you in love - waiting to embrace you, console you, and heal your pain. He said,"blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5.4). The LORD is your loving shepherd who offers you rest, strength, guidance, and comfort in your time of sorrow. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea. though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. -Psalm 23 Come to Jesus and find rest for your soul. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. -Matthew 11.28-30 Jesus, the good shepherd, will comfort you. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.... My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. -John 10.11,27-30 The LORD promises to destroy death forever. He will swallow up death in victory; and the LORD God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth; for the LORD hath spoken it. -Isaiah 25.8 Jesus has promised to prepare a place for you and those you love. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. -John 14.1-3 God has promised to create a new heaven and new earth and to be with you always. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall mere be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. -Revelation 21.3,4 Put your hope in Jesus, the Son of God, who promises eternal life to all who believe in him. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. -John 3.16,17 I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. -John 11.25,26a
