Adult Ministries exists at Lakewood to Reproduce Faithful Followers of Christ through Growth, Community, and Study. GROWTH Growth Groups are designed to facilitate spiritual growth and are committed to studying God s Word and building relationships together, typically meeting in the home setting. We believe that Growth Groups are uniquely qualified to reproduce faithful followers of Christ. These groups are: Relationship and knowledge focused Approximately 15 people max 10-12 weeks COMMUNITY Opportunities to build community are available through midsized groups connected by a shared affinity and designed for discipleship focused relationships. Currently Lakewood s primary opportunity for community is through Adult Bible Communities, which are arranged by similar life stages. Other community group events are scheduled throughout the year and are connected by a variety of affinities. These groups are: Relationship focused Unlimited size Seasonal STUDY Classes are designed to study God s Word so that our way of thinking and lives are transformed by its truth. Right now Lakewood s primary study opportunities are provided on Wednesday evenings. A variety of classes are offered, with the goal of developing an intentional progression of classes to increase Biblical literacy and theological understanding. Knowledge focused Unlimited size 10-12 weeks

Growth Groups Growth Groups Bruce & Phyl Wallen: Meeting Thursdays at 6:00 PM in their home. Join them in the study of The Story. The Story is an abridged, chronological Bible that reads like a novel and helps people understand God s Word more fully and engage with it more easily. Al & Diane Jacobson and Mark & Marci Hoard: Meeting Thursdays at 6:30 PM at the home of Mark & Marci Hoard and currently studying the book of Romans. Contact Mark or Marci at 320-293-4025 for more information. Rick & Kari Anderson: Meeting Wednesdays at 6:45 in Room 184 at Lakewood Church. This group is currently studying the series Overcomer, by David Jeremiah, which looks at how you can overcome life s everyday challenges with the power of God. Yes, God wants us to be people of strength and courage. He wants to build into our lives a spirit of power (2 Timothy 1:7). He has even commanded us to be strong in...the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10). Contact the Church Office for more information. GriefShare Arvilla Felten: Tuesdays beginning February 12 at 5:00 PM GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life s most difficult experiences. You don t have to go through the grieving process alone. The most important part of GriefShare is the hope it offers and help to move one from morning to joy. COMMUNITY Opportunities to build community are available through affinity-based groups designed for discipleship focused relationships. Adult Bible Community (ABCs) Adult Bible Communities (ABCs) are groups organized according to seasons of life and are designed for discipleship focused relationships. They meet Sunday mornings and you can join at any time. ABC 4 (born before 1945) meets at 10:45 in the Chapel Join ABC 4 as we continue the study of the gospel of Matthew. ABC 5/6 (born 1940-1965) meets at 9:00 in the Chapel This spring, ABC 5/6 invites you to join us in the study of the Minor Prophets. The schedule also includes several guest speakers, covering a variety of subjects and ministries. ABC 7 (born 1960-1980) meets at 9:00 in Room 174 We will continue with That the World May Know, a series by Ray Vander Laan. In each lesson, Vander Laan illuminates the historical, geographical, and cultural context of the Scriptures. This series was filmed on location in the Middle East with faith lessons that will transform your understanding of God and challenge you to be a true follower of Jesus. ABC 9 (born after 1975) meets at 9:00 in the Basement Join us as we continue with The Gospel Project, a chronological look at how all of Scripture points to Jesus Christ. This spring we will be looking at the book of Acts and the early Church. This study coordinates with the same materials the Children s Ministry uses and will provide great conversation opportunities. 30 Below meets Thursdays at 7:00 PM in Segway This group is for college age/young career between the ages of 18 and 30. COMMUNITY Women Tapestry Tapestry is a mentoring ministry for moms. Spend time building intentional relationships with women in your stage of life and draw on the experiences of women who have been where you are. Receive encouragement, as well as discover and explore your unique calling and role as a woman in God s Kingdom. Tapestry meets from 9:15-10:45 AM on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, starting January 15 May 7. Childcare for preschool and nursery age children is provided. Register in the Lakewood Church Foyer or lakewoodfc.com. Cost is $15 per year. Women s Breakfasts Join us every third Saturday of the month at Sawmill Inn for breakfast and fellowship with other women. Connected Women Once a month, from the months of April through October, come out for a unique field trip that is often educational. This is a great opportunity for women to connect with others who also share a sense of adventure! These outings allow a great opportunity to invite others from outside Lakewood to connect with women who love Jesus. S T U DY Classes are designed to study God s Word so that our thinking and lives are transformed by its truth. Men & Women Genesis Brian Erickson Genesis is the most important book in the Bible. It sets the stage for the story of history...the drama of redemption...and the autobiography of God. In Genesis we see the purposes, prophecies, and promises of God on which the rest of history and the rest of the Bible is fulfilled. Starting in January, Brian will be picking up in Genesis 16. The Incredible Life of David, Part 2 Chuck Arns We all want to be a person after God s own heart, but what does that look like as it comes into focus? What can we learn from David s life that will encourage us to stay firm in our faith, and our belief that God will never fail us? Join us as we continue to look at the incredible life of David. Heaven Tom Vesely The next time you hear someone say, We can t begin to imagine what heaven will be like, you will be able to tell them, I can! This class will use Randy Alcorn s book, Heaven, which is based on what the Bible has to say about our eternal home. Come join us as we discover what an exciting place God is preparing for His saints. Book Cost: $12 Basics of the Faith Ed Asker & Chuck Droogsma This class will go through the basic core beliefs of the Christian faith, starting with why we believe there is a God and why the Bible is true. The class will also cover creation, mankind, sin and salvation and how it all fits in to Christian living. Book Cost: $13
S T U DY Women The Quest Wendy Gammello In the study of The Quest, Beth Moore uses questions from Scripture to lead you into intimacy with the One who knows you best. Learn to dig into the Word, to respond to the questions of God, and to bring your questions before Him. Let the crooked punctuation mark be the map that points you into a closer relationship with the Father. Book Cost: $15. One In a Million Deb Isle & Rita Arns Every woman is on a journey. In the study, One in a Million, Priscilla Shirer looks carefully at the two Israelites (out of two million) who crossed over the Jordan and into the Promised Land. As we study we will find direction for our own spiritual lives and expect to see God move in miraculous ways in your everyday existence. Book Cost: $13. Acts Stacy Walker & Bonnie Bowman Wednesdays at 6:45 In the book of Acts, we have the story of God s work through His people to bring amazing change to the world in which they lived. In this class we will study that story and learn how it intersects with our lives today. Men Men s Bible Study Chuck Droogsma & Dave Lambert Fridays at 6:30 AM Studying Scripture with others is vital to spiritual growth. All men are invited to study the book of Romans in the Prayer Room on Friday mornings.
