The Foretelling of a Savior Isaiah and Luke

The accuracy of prophecy enhances those not yet fulfilled.

We should know written prophecy in order to see it coming.

King Ahaz Descendant of David Ruled around 748 years before Christ Major idol worshipper Bad reputation as King

Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not do what was right in the sight of the LORD his God, as his father David had done. 2 Kings 16:2

Now it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to make war against it, but could not prevail against it. And it was told to the house of David, saying, Syria s forces are deployed in Ephraim. So his heart and the heart of his people were moved as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind. Isaiah 7:1-2

Moreover the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying, Ask a sign for yourself from the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above. Isaiah 7:10-11

At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, Ask! What shall I give you? I Kings 3:5

Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours? I Kings 3:7-9

Moreover the LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying, Ask a sign for yourself from the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above. Isaiah 7:10-11

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

The Foretelling of a Savior 1. There is trouble brewing. 2. We have zero clue how to fix anything spiritually. 3. We waste time by attempting to do it on our own. 4. God s solution is available.

Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women! Luke 1:26-28

But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. Then the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. Luke 1:29-33

Then Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I do not know a man? And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:34-35

Only God can make the impossible possible.
