The Watchman Prayer Guide MARCH 2018 If you have not heard the breaking news, our former pastor, Kyle Dunn, is starting a church here in Murfreesboro. The beginning of a new church means more people will hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Let s be faithful in lifting Kyle up in prayer as he begins this new church. Pray that God would grant him strength and wisdom in this new endeavor. Let s pray that God s Kingdom expands as Belle Aire Baptist and People of Hope Church reach Murfreesboro with the Gospel! Steve Holt Transitional Pastor It's hard to believe that I am starting my third month as your transitional interim pastor. What a great time I am having getting to know people, visiting bible study classes, watching the Lord change lives and renew His people! Thank you for your continued prayers for Donna and myself as we seek to be faithful to Him and serve His people. Here are some specific ways we would ask you to pray for us and for Belle Aire: Pray that I would be able to have clarity and focus as I seek to be effective in both my role as transitional pastor and as the Church Services Director at the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. Pray that Donna and I would experience times of refreshing in both our spiritual lives and our marriage. Pray that God would continue to draw the members of Belle Aire closer to Him and closer to each other. Ask God to add to our fellowship both spiritually and numerically. Ask for receptive hearts to hear and obey His Word. If you are able, I would encourage you to join us for prayer in the sanctuary on Wednesday night at 6:15. Pray for the transition process for our congregation, asking God to make His Presence and Will overwhelmingly obvious to us as we move forward toward His preferred future for our church. Thank you for holding us up before the Lord! Pastor Steve
Adam Davis Associate Pastor Thank you so much for your prayers. May you never grow weary in praying for our church, the staff, and our members. I am so thankful and blessed to be a part of Belle Aire Baptist. Be praying for Pastor Steve as he continues to lead and guide us as a church. Pray that the Spirit provides wisdom, strength, good health, and clarity as he preaches weekly and engages both the members and guests at Belle Aire Baptist. Pray for our Maundy Thursday Lord s Supper service on March 29. Pray that our church body will be edified as we participate in this wonderful evening service. My prayer is that it will help focus our hearts and minds on Christ. Easter Sunday will provide an opportunity for many unchurched people to attend our worship services. Pray that the Gospel will be clearly presented and that people will surrender to the Lordship of Christ. Pray that we as believers will be strengthened by the Gospel and encouraged by this glorious Sunday. Continue to pray for our family. Taking care of four children and homeschooling is no small task. I am so thankful to have a wife who understands the demands of ministry and is so committed to the family. Pray for our marriage to grow and deepen as we seek after God. Pray that I will be the loving husband that God has called me to be. 2
Greetings Prayer Partners, David Wight Administrator This month, I ask you to pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to equip the administrative and facilities staff (Alyson, Leigh, Patty, Emily, Tina, Marcus and his custodial crew, and Brenda and her kitchen staff) to keep Belle Aire running smoothly, day in and day out. May we be Christ-like in all we do full of the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control). May we be knowledgeable, wise and careful doing everything with excellence, as unto the Lord. Pray for refreshing rest when it's needed and for strength and a joy-filled heart when things are really busy. Pray that we will avoid controversies, dissensions, and quarrels over things that are unprofitable and/or unedifying, so that we may not only be good witnesses of God's love but also remain focused on our calling as Belle Aire's support staff servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. Continue to pray for: 1. Belle Aire's financial situation. As of February 18, we are $40,000 under budget. That's an average of $5,700 per week. 2. Safety for our members and guests wherever and whenever we gather together. 3. The search for a financial secretary. 4. Nancy's dad (Arthur) and her brothers (Tom and Rich) and sister (Joan) who do not know the Lord. Soli Deo Gloria David Wight Dear Watchman, Thank you for your continued prayers. We had our first VBS directors meeting this past week and are excited about how God is going to work in and through us to impact our community on June 11-15. Please be praying about how God will have you serve during this church wide event. Kelly Jackson Preschool Minister Continue to pray for our investors who are serving each week, and are such a vital part of your preschool ministry. Pray for their enthusiasm and excitement about teaching preschoolers God s word to continue. Thank you again for your faithful prayers, Kelly Jackson 3
Wow, the time has slipped quickly away! Thanks for your prayers! I feel them every day. The senior adult ministry is going well. We had nearly 90 on Friday, one week ago for our Friday night fellowship. I'm grateful for all who came but I know we have twice that many here at Belle Aire. I want to be in touch with all our seniors. and this type of fellowship is one way we can meet and get to know one another better. Terry Chitwood Senior Adult Coordinator Pray that all seniors will be drawn to get together with others. We really do have a good time and there is a blessing every month! If you're a senior and you read this, this is a special invitation to join us on March 23 as we gather for fun, food and fellowship. The adult choir has grown to 51 on role with average attendance of 35. There is room for many more to join us. We have a blast on Wednesdays and on Sunday we lead worship every week. Pray that our music will be Christ centered and will lead us to Jesus every time we sing! On the home front, we have had a lot of sickness with our three youngest grandkids. Jax, our 3- year-old, had his tonsils out a couple of weeks ago and is just now returning to his fun self! Many of you prayed for him and we are grateful!! We have moved since we last talked and are enjoying our new home! We want our home to honor Christ as well, so pray that it will be more than a residence, but a place of prayer! Bless you, Belle Aire! Donita and I love you so very much!! Terry Jared Gregory Youth Minister Ministry Requests - Please pray for the Dominican Republic mission trip that is coming at the end of March. We have 28 students and adults traveling for a week of service and evangelism. Pray for easy travel and transition, and for the ways in which we will interact with all the different people we will meet. - This is also the time of year where we spend a lot of time planning and preparing for our summer mission trips. Please be praying for all the planning and details that must happen in order for these trips to be great. - Thank you for your prayers for Judah. Our evenings are getting much better. He is still not consistently sleeping though the night, but now he makes it through the night more often than he doesn't make it through the night. God Bless, Jared Gregory 4
Watchman, Derek Ervin Interim Children s Minister Thank you for your prayers for 24 Hours 4 Him last month! We had a fantastic weekend full of good worship, great Bible study, and a lot of fun! Your prayers were key in making this year s 24 Hours 4 Him one that the kids will remember and where gospel seeds were planted. This month has less going on event-wise, but I still appreciate your prayers for the children s ministry team as they work each week to help parents disciple their children. Ministry Requests Please pray for the children s ministry investors as they continually pour into the kids in their classes. Pray for wisdom and peace knowing that they are participating in kingdom work. Pray for the opportunity coming, not just in the children s ministry, but to the entire church to reach the lost at Easter. Pray that we will capitalize on the opportunities to speak the gospel and share life with those who need to know about Jesus. Pray for the VBS team as we begin to look ahead to how we can maximize our efforts and reach with this year s VBS. Pray that I can be faithful during this down time and will use it to continue to seek God and His direction for the children s ministry. Allie and I are taking our adoption class and have another meeting to attend as we inch closer to Liam s adoption day. Pray for this time to continue to go smoothly. Pray for us also as we anxiously await what God has next for our family. Thank you for your prayers! Derek Ervin 5
