Rashi says Jacob kept the 613 Laws-Torah. vs 5 Tell Esau that I have acquired flocks of animals and I am coming in love & peace. vs 6 The angels return and tell Jacob that Esau has 400 men. Rashi says that Esau still hates Jacob. vs 7 Jacob was very fearful as he was afraid the Esau would kill him or he would have to kill Esau so Jacob divided his family into two groups (nations). The time had arrived for Jacob to confront his past and get the victory. vs 8 If Esau attacks the 1st camp, I can fight him and the second camp can escape, but Jacob was prepared to pray to Yahweh for deliverance and give gifts to Esau. vs 9 Jacob prays to Yahweh reminding Yahweh that he promised to protect Jacob when he left to go to Laban and now to protect him on his return to his home. vs 10 With my staff I cross this Jordan River. Rashi says that Jacob put his staff in the river and the river separated so they could cross. Jacob says that he is not worthy. Did Jacob have a poor self-image due to things in his past? vs 11-12 I pray Yahweh that you deliver me from the hand of wicked Esau and fulfill your promise that my descendants will inherit the earth (populate the earth). vs 13-15 He spent the night and had ready 220 goats, 220 sheep, 30 camels, 50 cattle, and 30 donkeys. vs 16-19 Jacob designed a plan to separate the herds so they would approach Esau separately so that as one herd passed, the next herd could barely be seen far away. This pattern would repeat one after another in order to satisfy Esau s greed. He then might appreciate the enormity of the gift. Say to Esau that all is a gift to Esau from Jacob and that Jacob is coming behind this gift. vs 20 Perhaps this gift will appease Esau s anger. vs 22-23 During the night Jacob took his family across the Jabbok. Was he having 2nd thoughts about confronting Esau by fleeing away? Easton s Bible Dictionary says Jabbok means a pouring out or wrestling.

VaYishlach and he sent Page 2 112418 Kislev 16 Our salvation is represented by crossing the Red Sea. The emptying of our desires and total surrender to God and His desires is what happens when we cross the Jordan to go to the promised land. When Jacob crosses this tributary feeding into the Jordan, Jacob totally surrenders to Yahweh 100%. Have you crossed the Jabbok? Do you still hold onto secret sin? Have you given ALL your pain and rejection to Yahweh? Do you still feel hurt from offenses years ago? Do you have a clear conscience? When we cross this river, we do it alone. Just me and Yahweh and total surrender-100% so we can believe we are who Yahweh says we are: a dead man to sin & alive as a priest without sin or offense. Colossians 3:3! or are we hanging on to resentment, bitterness, & un-forgiveness? These are ALL symptoms of self-righteousness and pride. or do we say I will forgive if he or she asks for forgiveness. If you are waiting on them, you probably will never be a priest in his kingdom. Genesis 32:24 Jacob was alone and he wrestled a man until dawn. The million $ question: Have you wrestled till dawn or do you still need to be alone with Yahweh? Yahweh doesn t want you to spend your life in a closet! vs 26 Jacob said he would not let the man (angel) go until the angel blessed him. vs 27 The angel asks Jacob his name. Jacob says Jacob. Did Jacob believe his name as simply one who grabs the heel? or did Jacob believe his name meant supplanter or deceiver? Did Jacob have a bad self-image? vs 28 The angel said your name shall no longer be Jacob. Your name is Israel meaning you have POWER with Yahweh and with men and you shall prevail. Sar and El are two words in the word Israel. Sar can also mean PRINCE. THE WORD ISRAEL CAN MEAN THAT JACOB IS NOW A PRINCE WITH YAHWEH. WE MUST BELIEVE THIS. We are princes, princesses, and kings, and queens. We must also act like it. Do you love yourself? vs 31 Jacob was limping when the sun rose (with healing in its wings) (and his hip was healed). Jacob got his victory, but this did not prevent future tests & trials from sanctifying him further in his walk with Yahweh.

VaYishlach and he sent Page 3 112418 Kislev 16 Genesis 33:1 Jacob saw Esau coming with 400 men. vs 2 He sent his maid servants with their children, then Leah and her children, then last was Rachel & Joseph. vs 3 Jacob went in front of his family and greeted Esau bowing 7 times (courtesy). Rashi says that if Esau wanted a fight, that Jacob would fight. vs 4 Esau ran toward Jacob embraced and kissed Jacob. Rashi says that at the moment he was compassionate, but later this changes because he is wicked. Genesis 33:8-9 Esau says why give me all these goods?. Esau says I have plenty, so keep these goods. vs 11 Jacob says go ahead and take this gift for I have found favor with you, and that is precious to me. Esau took the gifts. vs 12-16 Esau wants to travel with Jacob, but Jacob says please go your own way as I will be going very slow. Esau says OK, I will leave. vs 17-18 Jacob went to Succoth and then to Shechem. vs 19-20 Jacob purchased a field in Shechem and erected an altar and named it God is the God of Israel. Genesis 34:1-2 These verses say that Dinah wandered away from Jacob s camp and was violated by Shechem the son of Hamor. Maybe Dinah did not realize her vulnerability. She should not have wandered off in a strange land unescorted by a brother, etc. Even today, women (and men) need to recognize their vulnerabilities and walk in wisdom, not putting themselves in situations where purity or sanctity of mind, soul, and/or body could be endangered. Was Leah responsible by not teaching Dinah better? Dinah had SIX BROTHERS. vs 5-7 Jacob and his sons heard that Dinah had been violated. Their anger was fierce. Rashi says that it was unheard of since the flood for illicit relations to occur amongst the Hebrew people (note: this belief includes Reuben!)

VaYishlach and he sent Page 4 112418 Kislev 16 Genesis 34:12-19 Shechem says that he will pay whatever Jacob wants for Dinah. Jacob s sons say to him that it is a disgrace for Hebrew daughters to marry one who is uncircumcised. Jacob s sons say that we can intermarry with your people only if all the men of Shechem become circumcised. note: this was war strategy. vs 20-22 Hamor and Shechem spoke to the people of Shechem and told them this circumcision requirement and said that Jacob would live in peace with them. vs 23 Hamor told the people THEN Jacob s property will be ours. This denotes greed and an evil heart. vs 24 The men agreed and all became circumcised. vs 25-29 Now on the 3RD DAY when the men were in pain, Simeon & Levi took their swords and killed all the men of Shechem. They took Dinah back home and plundered the city and took all their property. Did Simeon & Levi do the right thing? Did they commit murder due to anger? One must be careful to control his anger. Read Ecclesiastes 7:9, Ephesians 4:26, and Proverbs 16:32 vs 30-31 Jacob is upset with Simeon & Levi because he is concerned that the people of the land will hear and come and kill all Jacob s family. Simeon & Levi respond by saying Should we go along with Dinah becoming a harlot? Jacob believes they did wrong and curses them in Genesis 49:5-7 Genesis 35:1 Yahweh says to Jacob that he should not have stopped in Shechem and that he should go to Bethel and build an altar. were there idols amongst the people? Jacob made a mistake. We ALL make mistakes. note: sometimes we think we hear Yahweh speaking and it is not Yahweh. sometimes our hearts are tested to sanctify us to produce a blessing. If we are still hanging on to idols in our life, our walk produces a curse. vs 2-4 Jacob tells his family to remove any idols taken from the property of Shechem. They buried all the idols & earrings under a tree. vs 5-6 They traveled to Luz or Bethel and the fear of God was on all the people wherever they traveled.

VaYishlach and he sent Page 5 112418 Kislev 16 Genesis 35:9-10 Yahweh appeared to Jacob at Bethel and told him that his name was Israel and not Jacob. Jacob is to trust Yahweh (hear & do what Yahweh says) so that he can have power over men. vs 11 Be fruitful and multiply and kings (of Judah) will come from you and a nation & a multitude of nations (70)-meaning Ephraim & Manasseh. vs 16-20 They traveled to Ephrath and Rebecca gave birth to Benjamin. Rashi says triplets were born. two sisters in addition to Benjamin. Rebecca dies and was buried in Ephrathah or Bethlehem. Did Rebecca die before her appointed time because she had held on to her father Laban s idols? vs 21 Jacob traveled and camped near the Tower of Eder. vs 22 And it happened after Rebecca died that Reuben lay with Bilhah. note: Rashi says that Reuben had always wanted Jacob to honor Reuben s mother Leah. Rashi says that Jacob took his bed and placed it in Bilhah s tent. (Bilhah raised Dan, Naphtali, and Rachel s son Joseph). Who was Jacob s favorite son? Why was Joseph his favorite son? Reuben said to Jacob that now that Rebecca was dead, why should Jacob continue to humiliate Leah. Leah & Rachel were sisters! Bilhah was a handmaid. note: this makes sense to me because why would Reuben do what Shechem did to Dinah when all of Jacob s sons knew that it was a grievous sin to fornicate. Rashi says that the expression to lay in this scripture is saying that Reuben should not have interfered in his father Jacob s decisions about where he wanted to put his bed. especially if Leah did not want to raise a 7th son! vs 23-26 Leah s sons were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. Rachel s sons were Joseph and Benjamin. Bilhah s sons were Dan and Naphtali. Bilhah was Rachel s handmaid. Zilpah s sons were Gad and Ashur. vs 27 And Jacob came to Isaac in Hebron. vs 28-29 And Isaac died at age 180.

VaYishlach and he sent Page 6 112418 Kislev 16 Genesis 36:1-8 All the descendants of Esau decide to leave Canaan because there was insufficient land for both Jacob & Esau. They go to Edom or Mt Seir. vs 20 The inhabitants of Edom were the sons of Seir called Horites. vs 43 Esau was the progenitor of the Edomites. Halftarah-who is Edom or Esau today? Obadiah 1:1 Yahweh gave Obadiah a vision of the Edomites in the last days. This prophecy is against Jacob s brother Esau who gloated over his brother s destruction in the past and will do soon in the future. Some of Esau s descendants are Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Islamists (Shia, Sunni, etc.) in Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iran, etc. They want to destroy Israel. They shoot rockets to kill & maim Israeli civilians daily along with bombings, stabbings, and murder. Could this happen in the USA?-a nation without borders? Rashi says that Obadiah was an Edomite proselyte (a convert) had the right to prophecy against Edom (Esau). note: remember how Joseph (Ephraim/Mannassah) was the last son to meet Esau when Jacob & his family were coming to the promised land after leaving Laban in Haran. think last days Obadiah 1:6 Esau is discovered and Esau s secret things are revealed. Are the descendants of Esau in the last days the people trying to destroy the Jews in the Land of Israel and also the people trying to destroy Christianity today? vs 8-14 Yahweh says he will destroy Esau in the last days because of their violence (hamas) to Judah (and Joseph-Ephraim/Manasseh). vs 15 The Day of the Lord (when Yahweh destroys Mystery Babylon and Esau s descendants, the beast system, the PTB, one-worlders, etc.), or anyone who disrespects Yahweh via war, natural catastrophe, etc. Some say the descendants of Esau include the PTB, Germany, Turkey, Arab nations, Palestine, and Catholics in Italy and Spain (to include many in Central & South America). Could the current invasion from Central & South America be part of this? vs 17 You have destroyed many of Joseph & Judah, but I will save a remnant on Mt Zion (those who obey Torah from Mt Zion-Jerusalem)!!!

VaYishlach and he sent Page 7 112418 Kislev 16 Obadiah 1:18 For the house of Jacob is a fire and the house of Joseph (Ephraim? Manassah) shall be a flame and they (this remnant) shall destroy Edom/Esau. vs 20-21 Yahweh shall have His 1000 Year Kingdom Age after Joseph (Ephraim/ Manassah) & Judah (Netanyahu?) destroy Esau. Hosea 11-12 Hosea also prophecies about the last days. Ephraim has been scattered to the 4 corners and now Yahweh is going to gather the ones who will hear him speaking via the Holy Spirit through Torah Teachers. 11:7 My people (Ephraim or Joseph) waiver on whether to return to me or not. vs 10 My people will hear Me when I roar and they shall return. They shall come from the West (USA). 12:9 Ephraim (Christianity) says I am rich, I am OK the way I am. vs 10 I, Yahweh will make you dwell in tents (where Torah is taught). vs 11 I spoke to the prophets (to help My people do the right thing-torah) I assumed likenesses (I helped them use allegories to help listeners understand) Brit Chadashah Matthew 26:36 Garden of Gethsemane: The Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Is Jacob s Trouble a parallel to what happened to Yeshua? How does this connect to Jacob, Esau when Joseph and Rebecca confront Esau last? Are God s people turned over to the hands of sinners (Edom/Esau s) descendants? Is this how Yahweh brings His people (Joseph & Judah s descendants back to him in the last days? Is this JACOB S TROUBLE when Esau breaks the Yoke of Jacob?

VaYishlach and he sent Page 8 112418 Kislev 16
