THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON 1 Kings 11:1-3
1 Kings 11:1-13 NIV King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh s daughter Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods. Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.
1 Kings 11:1-13 NIV 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. 5 He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites. 6 So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.
1 Kings 11:1-13 NIV 7 On a hill east of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable god of Moab, and for Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites. 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods. 9 The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. 10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord s command.
1 Kings 11:1-13 NIV 11 So the Lord said to Solomon, Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. 12 Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.
HOW TO SET A RIGHT FOUNDATION? 4RM
YOUR DESTINY BEGINS BY HAVING THE 1. RIGHT MINDSET
Romans 12:1-2 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Philippians 4:8-9 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
YOUR DESTINY BEGINS BY HAVING THE 2. RIGHT MOTIVE
James 4:2-3 NLT What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don t have what you want because you don t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don t get it because 3 your motives are all wrong you want only what will give you pleasure.
Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Proverbs 4:23 NJKV Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
James 1:5-8 NLT 5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
YOUR DESTINY BEGINS BY HAVING THE 3. RIGHT METHOD

YOUR DESTINY BEGINS BY HAVING THE 4. RIGHT MOVE
Hebrews 12:16-17 ESV 16 that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.
