Dear Parents, Presently, Mrs Standing and I are interviewing our new Prep families for 2014. Enrolling your child in a Catholic School is a most special time in the life of a family. We are privileged to witness the unique loving bonds of parents, proudly presenting their beautiful little ones for the Prep Interviews. St Mary s is privileged to support parents in the Catholic education of little ones in a joy-filled and caring environment, as our Mission Statement above indicates, characterised by mutual care and respect, acceptance, peace, joy and enduring hope for the future. This Friday 31 May, also marks a most significant milestone in the spiritual journey of 43 children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Most Reverend Robert McGuckin - Bishop of Toowoomba, along with Father Franco and Father Hickling will concelebrate a special Confirmation Liturgy at St Mary s Church, from 7.00 pm. All families are very welcome to share in this beautiful sacramental occasion. Please keep the candidates and families in your thoughts and prayers during this precious time as they prepare to receive the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Sincerely, SHELL CAMPBELL Principal RELIGION NEWS Confirmation On Friday the 31 of May at 7pm, 39 children from our Parish, will be confirmed by Bishop McGuckin. Please keep all of these children in your prayers as they conclude the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our thanks to Karine Preston, Sandra Ganley and Jill Hume (Parish Sacramental Team Coordinators) and Anne Standing (APRE) for your lovely work in preparing the students for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Year 5 Class Mass Year 5 Carr and 5 Norton will be attending a Class Mass on Wednesday 5 June commencing at 9.00am at the Church. Parents are most welcome to attend. Young Catholics- Narrated Youth Mass Why have a Narrated Mass? Many of us have been coming to Mass for many years. Some have only been attending for a short while. It s often easy to think we know it all about the services we attend, but many people ask from time to time, Why do we do that..?' Fr Hal will be celebrating Mass and he will explain the Mass to us as we go through it. Movie Night! (Remember the Titans) Bring your friends, pillows, blankets and some lollies to share, and meet us at the OLOL hall for a movie night. The movie will be Remember the Titans starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton. The movie night is for young adults aged 18-35 and is a great way to meet new people. Hope to see you all there. Where: Our Lady of Lourdes School Hall (Toowoomba) When: Saturday 1st June Time: 7.30pm ADMINISTRATION Australia s Biggest Morning Tea this Friday, 31 May 2013 Upper Campus Oval after 9.30am Whole School Assembly Kindy, Prep, Year 1 Year 7 will all share morning tea together No Tuckshop available at morning tea Families are invited to join us in an effort to raise funds for the Cancer Council Children and adults are asked to bring along a gold coin donation Children are invited to bring along a fancy cup to receive a cup of cordial from the tuckshop The Year 6 students are also holding their annual Cake and Sweet Stall this Friday, selling items for 50 cents and $1.00. All of the proceeds from this stall will go towards the Australia s Biggest Morning Tea. Families are also invited to donate items to this stall. Please do not include nuts in any cooking as we are a nut aware school. School Assembly this week at 9.30am This Friday, 31 May, Year 2 Byrne, will lead our whole School Assembly at the Upper Campus commencing at 9.30am. Everyone is warmly invited to attend.
Under Eight s Day Activities Prep, Year One and Year Two Students participated in Under Eight s Activities last Friday. Due to the inclement weather, activities were held indoors or in sheltered areas. There were seven activities that were presented on a rotational basis. These activities included; Puzzles and Games, Novelty Games, Wax Crayon Painting, Play Dough, Story Time/Activity, Dance/Fitness and Skipping. Thank you to all the parents who supported the children and the teachers during the activities. The children had a lot of fun learning through play. Photos of this special event are included in this newsletter. BUS FARE ASSISTANCE & STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES Semester 1, 2013 Online applications for the Bus Fare Assistance Program and the Students with Disabilities Scheme will be accepted in May 2013. To lodge an online application to receive a rebate for either program, go to: www.schooltransport.com.au. Applications received after 31st May 2013 cannot be processed.
