First Communion $154,000 of our $536,000 Budget supports Calvary s Ministry of Worship Worship is the heart and center of our community. It is by Thanking God in public worship and in private prayer & devotion that we grab hold of salvation God offers us in Jesus Christ & make it our own. There are more than 125 worship services each year at Calvary, plus worship services at the nursing home, Celebrate Recovery, home communion services, funerals, weddings, and other worship celebrations. During the summer, 16 worship services occurred at Calvary-Vergas averaging 59 worshipers. Russ Bunker, our director of music, leads our congregational singing and more than dozen regularly occurring ensembles and soloists. Ministry partners volunteer each season to assist with Worship Arts, banners and decorations in our sanctuary. There were 625 worship assistants (ushers, greeters, readers, communion servers), 205 hours from Altar Guild, 350 hours from 13 projection, video and sound leaders and 400 hours just from Rand Stolee to prepare the slides for projection. Even that doesn't count the Worship Band Cross Walk, the Senior Choir and other ensembles, soloists, and so many more who gave generously of their time to enhance our worship. At funerals, Calvary shares the grief of those who mourn. We give voice to sorrow, thank God for our loved one, and entrust this companion of ours into the hands of God. Trusting in God s promise in baptism that we are claimed by Christ forever, we rest in the sure hope of the resurrection. 2014 Confirmands

$120,000 of our $536,000 budget supports Calvary s Ministry of Learning In 2015 we had over 75 children in Sunday School, Wednesday School, and VBS, 62 th in Confirmation, and 21 th were confirmed on Reformation Sunday. McKenna Nelson baptism Faith statement from newcomer to faith & Calvary More than 100 th and 100 adults served more than 2,000 hours through our Sunday School and Youth Programs. We have a nursery available for children birth-age 5 during the education hour & 10:45 a.m. worship service. Youth receive 3 years of instruction to prepare for their Affirmation of Baptism. Sunday School provides learning for 9 different age groups. There are more than 12 regularly occurring Adult Ed. Groups You shall love the LORD r God with all r heart, and with all r soul, and with all r might. Keep these words that I am commanding today in r heart. Recite them to r children and talk about them when are at home and when are away. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Kids answer questions during the Children s Message

Calvary received 32 new members this year, 10 of them children. Sponsors for each family and the Evangelism and New Member committee provide lots of support for those new members. They each attend two new member orientations, where we hear their stories and reasons for joining Calvary. They nearly always mention the warm welcome they receive at Calvary and the ease of making many new friends here. Thanks, everyone, for r hospitality. Connection Painting Event Participants All women of Calvary are part of the Women of the ELCA--WELCA. Our programs encourage spiritual growth and offer opportunity for extending Christian love and concern locally, nationally and globally. $130,000 of our $536,000 Budget will support the Ministry of Caring Within our Congregation An important strategic initiative for this year was Relationships, nurturing safe, supportive, authentic relationships and friendships Our Fellowship Committee hosted many connection events, providing opportunities for congregation members to connect with one another. Painting Classes in April included 34 members, a Saturday Morning Yoga Class attracted 20, a Golf Scramble & Dinner included 16 golfers and even more at the dinner. 70 flip-flop feast participants enjoyed brunch between services with conversation starters and many even flip-flopped their worship service time. We offer ongoing care and support to all members and friends of our congregation and to any with whom we cross paths as we live out our faith. Our pastors and volunteer visitors want to make this church a caring community where each person is able to feel the love of God being shared with one another. During the Wednesday staff meeting, Calvary staff prays for congregation members the week of their birthday. Stephen Ministry has been active this year, with 13 caregivers assigned to care receivers who gave approximately 984 hours caring for people in our congregation and community. They also had 378 combined hours for continuing education. Just last month 5 new Caregivers finishing the 50 hours of training. Between our pastors, Stephen Ministers and caring visitors from WELCA and the Fishermen, Calvary takes good care of our elderly, hospitalized and those in crisis.

$130,000 of our $536,000 Budget will support the Ministry of Reaching Out We give 10% of our offerings, over $53,000, to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our giving supports our synod, new congregations, raising church leaders, and so much more. This offering is one way we do God s Work with Our Hands. The Fishermen s Fix-It Ministry built a fence for a family whose mother is blind and in a wheelchair. Now they play in safety. TWIGS and The Joy of Giving One Christmas, TWIGS gave ShopKo gift cards to families who needed an extra boost to help with holiday expenses. It was pure joy to give these cards, and receivers were delighted. While out on an errand, a TWIGS member heard someone calling her name. It was a little girl running down the aisle to give her a small brown paper bag, tied with a pretty ribbon. The little girl excitedly told her that she and her grandmother had put together Christmas gifts and were passing them out to friends. Inside the package was a piece of candy, a small ornament, and a candy cane. Our TWIGS member knew this was a family who received one of our ShopKo gift cards. As she was driving away, our TWIGS mom was perplexed and even somewhat disappointed why are they using their gift on friends, and not on their own family as it was intended Upon arriving home she told her daughter what she experienced. Her insightful daughter replied, Mom, don t see, this family always receives, and now at Christmas, TWIGS gave them an opportunity to give. That small ornament will forever hold a special place on the Christmas tree, with a reminder of the simple joy of giving to others. Backpack Contents Celebrate Recovery fulfills several of our strategic initiatives- hospitality, relationships and outreach. They started their weekly Tuesday evening gatherings in October 2014 with 25-40 attending and a very strong group of 17 leaders who gave over 2,000 hours of leadership, planning, and facilitating time this year. A generous couple has given $15,000 which should support this ministry for the next 23 years. $14,000 Funding for many of our social ministries is not included in our General budget. The giving totals for these ministries was over $117,000. That includes Backpacks $21,797, TWIGS $21, 648, WELCA distributions of over $14,500, Celebrate Recovery $4,379, Fishermen Fix-It $3,575, Food Shelf $4,861, and Luther Crest Scholarships for $5,315. These programs also receive many generous Gifts from Outside Calvary including from other congregations. Personal Care Kits contain necessities like tooth brush and paste, a wash cloth and towel, soap, shampoo, deodorant and razor. They are distributed locally to the Food Shelf, Someplace Safe, Trafficked Teens, Refuge, Kinship, Stepping Stones, Community Outreach and 25 are given globally through Lutheran World Relief kits. The Backpack Program has 40+ ministry partners, more than 900 hours served each year. They currently distribute 162 backpacks a week to: PHS, ALC, PWMS, HOTL, Kids Adventure, Head Start, St Henry's, and St Paul's. Community Outreach provides families in need with furnishing for their home. Share r food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter-when see the naked, clothe him, and turn not away from own flesh and blood. Then r light will break forth like the dawn, and r healing will quickly appear; then r righteousness will go before, and the glory of the Lord will be r rear guard.
