From Preacher Jeff... 10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God. Deuteronomy 26:10 On Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, we will worship the Lord through our annual Firstfruits offering. The Firstfruits offering should not replace an individual s tithe. Firstfruits were offered to the Lord by the children of Israel above and beyond their tithes. At Sullivan Baptist Church, this annual offering is given cheerfully and sacrificially in praise to God for His blessings. Our worship through giving reflects the grace of Christ bestowed upon us. It is critical to remember and believe The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luke 18:27 As we approach April 21, please consider the following: 1) Everything that we have comes from the Lord and belongs to the Lord. We are stewards of his blessings. (Matt. 25:14-30, Rom. 12:1-2); 2) The only requirement of a steward is to be found faithful, i.e. loyal, trustworthy, and dependable. (Luke 16 : 10-12, 1 Corinthians 4:2); 3) A person cannot be right with God spiritually and wrong with God financially. As stewards, we are taught what and how to give. 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV) says, He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (See also 1 Corin-thians 16:1-2); 4) How well we manage what God has given us has a direct influence on worship and evangelism. (Malachi 3:8-10, Matthew 6:19-21, Luke 12:35-48, Luke 19:11-27); and 5) God has blessed our church family beyond measure. (Psalm 40:5, Acts 20:35). The Finance Committee and Deacon Ministry have agreed to designate receipts from the 2019 Firstfruits offering toward the Phase 2 Chapel Renovation. Phase 2 will provide a contemporary setting where students will worship, grow, and fellowship. There will be a café for Sunday morning church meet and greet. This café, along with an additional classroom, will also provide needed Bible Fellowship space. The renovated Chapel will seat approximately 150 and will serve as the Wednesday Student Worship Area but will be flexible enough to host conferences and ministries. Please seek the Lord and be obedient to Him, as every gift will greatly enhance our opportunity to reach future generations for Christ. Special envelopes will be available for the Firstfruits offerings. Thank you for giving prayerfully, generously, and sacrificially to ministry and missions. Keep spreading the gospel! God loves you, and I love you! Music News What a great month this is! We get to celebrate the resurrection of our Savior!!! The worship ministries are excited about this month and about celebrating through song, signing, and drama. God is moving in a mighty way within the worship ministries of our church, and we would love for you to find a worship ministry and be a part of it! Whether that place is Celebration Choir, Instrument Ensemble, Student Drama Team, Children s Choir, or Unspoken Praise Signing Choir, there is a place for you. Summer will soon be upon us, and before long we will be preparing for our Christmas program. We want to have as many people as possible involved with that. We want this time of worship to not only be a worship ministry event, but also a church wide outreach. You will be hearing more about our Christmas program in the next few newsletter articles. Let s enjoy this month celebrating Jesus s victory over sin, death, and the grave! He s alive!!! God Bless, Bro. James 1:27 (ESV) What a challenge for us, Church! I ve challenged our students with the following question for the upcoming summer, and I want to pose it to you as well. How can we act out James 1:27 in our community? We ve decided as a Student Ministry to start seeing and meeting needs in our community, to be a presence in our community, and to truly start going and meeting people where they are. Jesus didn t stay in the synagogue and make people come to Him. Instead, He went to people s homes and met them where they were. I want to ask you how we can do that, Church, and I want to invite you to come alongside our young people in making a difference in the name of Jesus---one person, one household at a time.
