Hixson Presbyterian Church April 30, 2017 Prelude Greetings Morgan Lusk Call to Worship Psalm 37:1-6, 39 Prayer of Preparation & Confession Responsive Reading Psalm 42 Wonderful, Merciful Savior Wonderful, merciful Savior, precious Redeemer and Friend, Who would have thought that a Lamb could rescue the souls of men Oh, You rescue the souls of men. Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, Spirit we long to embrace, You offer hope when our hearts have hopelessly lost the way Oh, we ve hopelessly lost the way. Chorus: You are the One that we praise, You are the One we adore. You give the healing and grace our hearts always hunger for Oh, our hearts always hunger for. Almighty, infinite Father, faithfully loving Your own; Here in our weakness You find us falling before Your throne Oh, we re falling before Your throne. (Chorus twice) Jesus Paid It All I hear the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small! Child of weakness, watch and pray, Find in Me Thine all in all. Refrain: Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain He washed it white as snow. For nothing good have I whereby Thy grace to claim- I ll wash my garments white in the blood of Calv ry s Lamb. (refrain) And when before the throne I stand in Him complete, Jesus died my soul to save, my lips shall still repeat. (refrain) The Lord Is My Salvation The grace of God has reached for me And pulled me from the raging sea And I am safe on this solid ground I will not fear when darkness falls His strength will help me scale these walls I ll see the dawn of the rising sun Who is like the Lord our God? Strong to save, faithful in love

You are my Savior I owe everything to. Take all the treasures that lie in my storehouse. They cannot follow when I enter Your house. Chorus: So I surrender all to You. I surrender all. Take all my cravings for vain recognition, fleshly indulgence, and worldly ambition. I want so much Lord, to make You the focus, to serve You in secret and never be noticed. Take all my hunger for all that s forbidden, every desire and sin I keep hidden. Search me and know me, I want to bring to You a life that is holy and sanctified through You. Why Do We Do That? Call to Worship When we are called to worship, either through a song or a scripture passage (Psalm 100), we are encouraged to shift our gaze from ourselves towards our Creator. One day in seven we are commanded to rest from our regular labors and focus on the Lord. He is our audience on Sunday as we gather. He is the One we serve. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that, and this is why we are called to come and worship. Typically the texts that are used in this part of the service remind us of why the Lord is deserving of worship and what our response should be.

Sermon Notes - Robert Johnson Walking With God 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 Intro, Walking With God First, A Life of Joy (16) Second, A Life of Constant Connection (17) Third, A Grateful Life (18) Fourth, A Spirit Filled Life (19) Finally, A Holy Life (20-21)
