The building that itself was to be a sign of God s presence among His people now becomes the very place where Jesus is presented to the Lord. romised for centuries, salvation has come, and all nations shall see the glory of the Lord. As Simeon beholds this glory in the face of Jesus hrist, he embraces redemption in his arms. Through the Word you will hear and the Supper you will receive today, you, too, will embrace hrist and His saving work. Sing of His glory! God has come to you! WELOME and ANNOUNEMENTS If there are prayer concerns for you, your family, your friends, or your neighbors, please put them on the blue information card. Our Board of Elders are prayerful with our pastors about these joys and struggles of our earthly journey. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16b T DIVINE SERVIE T OENING HYMN Now Sing We, Now Rejoice (LSB 386) INVOATION Based on Luke 2:29 31 In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. According to the Lord s own Word, let us come before Him. Our eyes shall see the salvation He has prepared for us. ONFESSION and ABSOLUTION 1 John 1:7; Galatians 4:4 5 1

If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. Silence for reflection on God s Word and for self-examination. Let us join together and confess our sins to God, our Father: Lord God, heavenly Father, we acknowledge that we have not walked according to Your commands. Our words and actions have not reflected the light of Your presence in our lives. We have stumbled and fallen in the darkness. In the name of our Savior Jesus hrist, we ask for Your forgiveness. leanse our hearts and minds with His mercy, and scatter the darkness of our sin with the brightness of His righteousness. Amen. Your merciful Father has sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem you who are under the law, so that you might be adopted into His family and freed by His forgiveness. As a called and ordained servant of God s Son, Jesus hrist, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. WORD INTROIT Isaiah 61:10-11a; antiphon: Isaiah 61:11b the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations. I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations. KYRIE In peace, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy. OFFERING We gather our tithes, gifts of love, and our Building Together in Faith gifts. (lease stand) OFFERTORY O Sing to the Lord (LSB 808) RAYERS OF THE HURH Let us pray for the whole people of God in hrist Jesus and for all people according to their needs. For the blessing of God s kingdom, that people of all nations may come to the Savior who came into this world for us, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For the hristian hurch, both here at Faith and throughout the world, that we may rejoice in the Son of God and marvel at the mystery of His incarnation, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For all pastors, teachers, missionaries, and servants of the hurch, that wherever they go and whomever they reach, Your love may be seen and known, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For the community in which we live and for all of those who use their vocations to bless others, that we may do all things for the glory of God and for the good of mankind, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For all public servants, including our governmental leaders and the members of the Armed Forces, that they would embrace Jesus hrist and be filled with His wisdom, guidance, and peace, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For all who suffer in heart, mind, and body, (especially...), that they may be touched by the healing hand of our Great hysician, let us pray to the Lord. Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. For these and all other concerns we have that, coming before the throne of grace, we find mercy to help us in our time of need, let us pray to the Lord, Father, show us Your glory in the face of Your Son. In His name we pray. Amen. LORD S RAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; 5

and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen. IN REGARD TO HOLY OMMUNION: According to Scripture, Holy ommunion should be celebrated by those who are: United in a common faith (1 or. 10:16-17, 21-22; Rom. 16:17); Repentant of sins (1 or. 5:11, Matt. 18:17-18); Able to examine their lives (1 or. 11:27-29); and believe that in this precious meal they receive the true body and blood of Jesus given and shed for the forgiveness of their sins (Luke 22:19-22). Since Scripture teaches that those people who do not fully understand the meaning of this meal eat and drink to their own harm (1or. 11:27-29), and because the Lord s Supper is the supreme act of stating our unity in faith and doctrine, we would ask those people who are visiting with us to please speak with one of our pastors, before communing, in order that we might fulfill our responsibility of properly instructing people in the right use of the precious Sacrament. SERVIE OF THE SARAMENT REFAE The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give Him thanks and praise. It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus hrist, our Lord; for in the mystery of the Word made flesh You have given us a new revelation of Your glory that, seeing You in the person of Your Son, we may know and love those things which are not seen. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying: SANTUS 6

RAYER OF THANKSGIVING Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. By Your Holy Spirit, You draw all nations unto Your light that the darkness of our sin may forever be removed by the sacrifice of hrist s body and blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we ask You to unite us with all Your adopted children who have been redeemed through Him who was born under the Law for us. For to You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. WORDS OF OUR LORD Matt 26:26 28; Mk 14:22 24; Lk 22:19 20; 1 or 11:23 25 AX DOMINI The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. AGNUS DEI 7
