The Bell Tower All Saints Episcopal Church Reisterstown Parish A Letter from Dan Bolgiano, Sr. Warden Volume 16,Number 8 August 2016 Mission Statement: OUR MISSION IS TO INVITE EVE- RYONE TO COME TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD; TO CHALLENGE ALL TO GROW AS DISCIPLES THROUGH HIS WORD AND HOLY SPIRIT; AND TO SHARE HIS MESSAGE WITH OUR COMMUNITIES AND THE WORLD Inside this issue: God s Older Children 2 #FLATJESUS 4 Highlighted Events 3-5 Dear All Saints family and friends, The following Bible verse is one that has carried me through this year and I would like to share with you how it has touched my life. I hope it speaks to you as well. Back in January I heard a song that is sung by Keri Jobe called You Are Not Alone. It is a song about how God will go before you and never leave you. We sing it regularly during the contemporary service and it always brings tears to my eyes. The song comes from the verse found in Deuteronomy 31:8 and it says Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord is the one who goes before you. He will be with you: he will neither fail you nor forsake you. Moses was about to die. He took Joshua aside and told him to be strong and courageous. He told him that now he, Joshua, would be leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, but to not be afraid or discouraged because God would go before him and prepare the way. Because God is not constrained by time, he can be in the past, present, and the future at the same time. Joshua must have been terrified at the time, knowing that he was going to take over for Moses, but the fact is that God had already gone before him to prepare the way. Even though the future was unknown to Joshua, it wasn t unknown to God. I have taken this verse to heart and I know that God has gone before us at All Saints. He knows our future and lives in our future just like our present. As our Heavenly Father, He will guide and lead us as we call a new pastor to All Saints. We prayed all last year as a church that God would bring us a pastor who loves our Lord with his whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. I believe that God has honored those prayers and has already chosen that person. Congratulations 6 Calendar of Events 7 CONTINUED ON PAGE 3

A Letter from Dan Bolgiano, Sr. Warden, Continued from Page 1 Page 3 Being at the beach this week I have seen fathers and their children playing in the ocean. When a large wave comes the small children run to their fathers and wrap their arms around his legs because they know they are safe with him and he, the father, will protect them. It is a beautiful picture. It is a picture to me of just how much God loves His children and He will never leave us or forsake us in our time of need. In John 1:12 it says: All who belong to Jesus Christ and have accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. And Galatians 4:7 says, Now you are no longer a slave but God s own child. And since you are His child, everything he has belongs to you. What a promise! Everything God has now belongs to those who love Him. As we move forward we need to keep our eyes on Christ and trust that He has the best for our lives and All Saints church. In His service, Dan Bolgiano
