Rebecca Jordan Heys continues our series from the Heidelberg Catechism with a sermon from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, Table Manners. The offering is for the Refugee Resettlement Committee. It is our privilege and duty as God s people to follow his example in loving and welcoming strangers. Together with Bethany, the RRC helps refugees adjust to their new home, assisting them to achieve self-sufficiency within six months of their arrival in Grand Rapids. Some of the ways our church supports the ministry is by furnishing an apartment, providing food, and collecting clothing and other household items. We provide transportation to appointments, take the family shopping, share meals with the family, give tutoring sessions, and teach budgeting. In addition, our church family supports the family with some of their financial obligations as they begin to live in the community and are not yet employed; during this time, they are attending English classes and job training classes. The Worship Committee has been soliciting song suggestions from our young people for use in our worship services. This morning we will be singing Beautiful Savior (#17) which was requested by Grace Poortenga and Grace Spoelma. Evening worship: Plymouth Heights CRC welcomes us for a combined worship service at 5:30 PM. Rev. Sarah Albers brings the message, Celebrating Our Faith: A Service of Scripture, Song, and Prayer. There will be a time of fellowship following the service.

WORSHIP Next Sunday, March 3 Morning worship: On this Transfiguration Sunday, we will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord s Supper, and Rev. Brad Zwiers will preach from Luke 9:28-36. The offering will be for Global Gifts. Evening worship: Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys will preach from Psalm 105, and the offering will be for Wings of Mercy. WORSHIP Ash Wednesday, March 6 We will hold an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7:00 PM, led by our Cherub and Covenant Choirs, with Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys giving a meditation from Isaiah 58:1-12. Presenter: Chris DeVos, Manager of Church Partnerships and Care, Colossian Forum Too often we struggle to find our way through complex issues and end up fighting with or splitting apart from each other. The church is as embattled as the culture around us. In the midst of our current complexity is a moment to grow our love for each other and for God, a moment for spiritual formation and witness. This presentation will explore a Christian practice called The Colossian Way, a Christian practice built for the complexity of current issues and the challenges of unity. Participants sample what it means to engage one another around our differences. T.R.I.P. = Tuition Reduction Incentive Program = An easy way to financially support Calvin CRC. Many of our families already use it to reduce their tuition obligations, but those who don t have kids in school can use the system here. In your box, you will find an up-to-date list of all the vendors who participate in the program. Please look the list over for any business you patronize at least once a month, and then talk to Donna at the table in the Narthex. Participating is as easy as using a gift certificate. A few Calvin members faithfully use the system. Many more could how about you? FAMILY SUPPER: A light supper will be provided at church on February 27 for adults and their children, especially those involved in Wednesday evening programming. A donation from each family will cover the cost of the meal. Vandenbergs and Bordewyks will serve food from 5:00-6:30.

REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS Trinitas Parent Info Night rescheduled: Please join us on Tuesday, February 26, at 7:00 PM. Trinitas Classical School offers full-time and homeschool enrollment options for grades K-8 in an ecumenical Christian environment that is both academically challenging and joyful. Come see our classrooms, meet our faculty, visit with parents, and learn why we are excited about classical education. For more information or to register, please visit www.trinitasclassical.org or call (616) 855-6518. Or, contact Doug or Anne Poortenga. We d love to have you join us. Computer Class Teachers: Many parents in GRPS do not have even the most basic computer skills, which hinders job searches and job opportunities among other things. Our Parent University offers basic skill computer classes and also provides a $50.00 refurbished computer at the end of the class. The need is great, and the number of teachers is few. Having a computer in the home helps children have access to the internet and be able to complete homework assignments more efficiently. We are looking for several volunteer computer teachers to teach ten parents twice a week for five weeks. Locations will be in GRPS schools. If you have the tech skills and a heart for service, please contact Jan Wilkins at 485-9550 or wilkinsj@grps.org as soon as possible. Five schools are currently waiting for classes to start. Help bridge the digital divide. In Worship: Our worship proceeds unannounced and follows the printed liturgy. The Chancel banner expresses the Christian belief that in one God there are three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The color green represents spiritual growth during the season of the Lord s life and ministry. Large print resources are available at the Information Desk. Adult coloring pages are on the TRIP table in the Narthex. Our facility is equipped with the Loop hearing system. For Children: Ages 0-2: Infant and toddler nurseries are available. Preschool: The Little Children (TLC) gathers downstairs in room 19 prior to the morning worship. K-2 nd : After the Children s Message the Children s Worship ministry meets downstairs in rooms 11 & 13 until the conclusion of worship. Parents meet their children there following the service. Busy Bags for young children are on the picket fence in the Atrium. Bulletins for older children are in the rack in the Narthex. Coloring pages and colored pencils are available at the table in the Narthex. Fellowship and Information: Everyone is invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments following the morning service. Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/calvinchristianreformedchurch All of our ministries are described in the colorful folders at the Information Desk near the nurseries.
