Connect Church Welcome to Connect Church If you are visiting with us for the first time, WELCOME! We are glad it was your choice to worship Christ with us today. We hope this time of praise and the study of God s Word will be an encouragement for you. please join us between services for refreshments and fellowship. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. I love this church because I love the community of people. This church has changed my life. My closest friends attend this church and they are very welcoming to others. I serve Jesus with you by volunteering on Wednesday evenings in the Student Ministry. I also help with project at church when needed.

Church Life If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, and have been baptized through believer s baptism, we invite you to join us today as we partake of this symbolic act of worship. It is a time for us to remember the death and contemplate the return of Jesus. Thinking about joining, being baptized, or just want to find out more about the ministries and mission at Connect Church? Please join us for the upcoming Church Orientation session. Royal Palm campus 11:00 AM in the Coffee Shop Acreage campus 11:00 AM in the Choir Room Are you just beginning to visit with us and would like to meet the leadership staff? You are invited to lunch with the pastors and their families. We look forward to meeting you at 12:30 PM in the Activity Center on the Royal Palm campus.

Make plans now to attend this conference which will both inspire and challenge us as parents, grandparents, or simply concerned adults who desire to influence children and youth for God. What will the next generation look like? That all depends upon how much we will invest in their future. Church Life Tithes and Offerings God has given you considerable material blessings. Have you ever asked yourself, Why has He provided so much? You don t need to wonder. Paul tells us exactly why He provides us with more money than we need: Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase you store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that (2 Corinthians 9:10-11). So that what? How will he finish this sentence? Prosperity theology would finish it, so that we might live in wealth, showing the world how much God blesses these who love Him. But that isn t how Paul finishes it. He says, You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion God comes right out and tells us why He gives us more money than we need. It s not so we can find more ways to spend it. It s not so we can indulge ourselves and spoil our children. It s not so we can insulate ourselves from needing God s provision. Where will you journey next? Consider a trip with your Connect Church family. It s so we can give generously. God s Word - Time With God Today s SOAP - Dr. Dale R. Faircloth Scripture: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians1:3-4 Observation: The Apostle Paul had every confidence that God will comfort us in any trouble. His confidence appears to come from his own experiences and from his understanding of God s nature as Father. Paul s position is to praise God even in the trouble since he knows the Lord will use it for the benefit of others as we testify to our own experience of God s compassion. Application: I need to keep this perspective on life and problems. During hard times my tendency is to be concerned about myself more than focusing on what God is doing in the Kingdom. The Lord is using everything nothing goes to waste. As the famous quote from Rahm Emanuel states, "Never let a good crisis go to waste. He meant it from a political position, but there is spiritual truth when we embrace God s loving sovereign reign. How Do I SOAP? Prayer: Lord, I know there will be problems in my future. Perhaps my future difficulties will be larger than anything I ve experienced before. Please help me to keep Your compassion and comfort in the forefront of my mind and emotions. I want to glorify You especially in the tough times. In Jesus name I pray, Scripture - Read the passage of Scripture for the day and allow God to speak to you. Write down a verse which spoke to you. Observation - Write your observation as to what is happening in the text. What do you believe is the point of the passage? Application - Write down how the Scripture passage applies to your life today. Prayer - Ask God to help you use this Scripture for greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say! Now, write it out. S.O.A.P. Scripture Observation Application Prayer Grab your Bible, a pen, and a notebook. Get ready to hear from God through His Word! This Week s SOAP Displaying the Gospel M 2 Corinthians 4:5-7 T 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 W 2 Corinthians 4:10-12 TH 2 Corinthians 4:13-14 F 2 Corinthians 4:15 S 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Main Passage for May 6 2 Corinthians 4:5-18 CSB Memory Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:9 Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him.

Enjoying God s Comfort Scripture 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, so you will also share in the comfort. 8 We don t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed beyond our strength so that we even despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. 10 He has delivered us from such a terrible death, and he will deliver us. We have put our hope in him that he will deliver us again 11 while you join in helping us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gift that came to us through the prayers of many. 12 Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom but by God s grace. 13 For we are writing nothing to you other than what you can read and also understand. I hope you will understand completely 14 just as you have partially understood us that we are your reason for pride, just as you also are ours in the day of our Lord Jesus. 2 Corinthians 1:3-14 CSB Main Point Believers find comfort in knowing that others benefit from and God is honored through their trials. *Notes adapted from Explore the Bible, LifeWay Christian Resources. God s Word - Devoted to Him Can God? (Ps. 78: 19) Can God? the subtle Tempter breathes within, When all seems lost, excepting sure defeat, Can God roll back the raging seas of sin? Can God? the fainting heart doth quick repeat. God can! in trumpet tones rings faith s glad cry, And, David-like, it fears no giant foe, For faith dwells on the Mount, serene, and high, While unbelief s dark clouds roll far below. God can! His Saints of old did ever give Their fullest confirmation o er and o er, And He who made the long-dead bones to live, E en now can bring the dead to life once more. God can! Then let us fear not, but arise! Our motto be this word that He doth give, If we have faith, before our wondering eyes A MIGHTY ARMY SHALL ARISE AND LIVE! J. A. R. Can God? Oh, fatal question! It shut Israel out of the Land of Promise. And we are in danger of making the same mistake. Can God find me a situation? Or provide food for my children? Can God keep me from yielding to that besetting sin? Can God extricate me from this terrible snare in which I am entangled? We look at the difficulties, the surges that are rolling high, and we say, If Thou canst do anything, help us! They said, Can God? It hurt and wounded God deeply. Say no more, Can God? Rather say this, God Can! That will clear up many a problem. That will bring you through many a difficulty in your life." Preschool Ministry God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7 Hi Kids, Today we learned about the Widow's mite. We discussed how important it is to share what we have with others. Answer the questions below from our lesson. Where was Jesus? What did the rich people give? What did the poor widow give? What is worth more to God, what is easy for us to give or the best we can give? Does God love a cheerful giver? Time to color.
