Michael Bond Partnership Missionary mlbond2@frontier.com Ms. Teresa Dotson Administrative Coordinator tdotson5@frontier.com 1 3 3 4 4 What Unites Us? The whole world seems divided. Just look at our election process. Take a look at almost any social issue. Think about religious thought and world view. For everyone that is for something, there will be someone who is passionately against it. If that is an accurate assessment of our current reality, then what in the world can possibly unite us? The answer ought to be perfectly clear to a follower of Christ. Jesus is the Uniter. He is the only one that can take two total strangers from different parts of the world and make them friends in one conversation. If they are both believers, they are family. This past week we had the 67 th Annual Session of the Yates Baptist Association annual meeting with over 150 in attendance. There seemed to be a spirit of unity in the meetings. There was a sense that even though we are different in many ways, we are united as family in Jesus. Together we adopted a set of core values that represent a good picture of Christ and His desire and purpose for this world. It sets forth unifying statements of truth that come from the heart of God. YATES BAPTIST ASSOCIATION CORE BELIEFS We believe the only way of salvation and forgiveness of sin is through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe the Bible is the authoritative source of truth for Christian living. We believe in the autonomy of the local church and its central role in sharing the gospel and growing believers. We believe in local churches cooperating to accomplish together more than we can alone. We believe in intentionally caring for pastors and equipping church leaders. We believe in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and extending His kingdom in the Durham-Chapel Hill Metro Region and beyond because all people matter to God. We believe in hands on mission and ministry opportunities that engage people locally and throughout the world. We believe in cooperation with other Christians, churches and organizations that are like-minded to advance God s kingdom work. We heard an inspiring message from Dr. Michael Page, pastor at Antioch Baptist Church. We also heard a great challenge from Dr. Charles Roesel about ministry evangelism. That means loving people enough to meet a need in their life with the desire that they meet Jesus. By the way, today we ordered a copy of Dr. Roesel s book entitled, It s a God Thing for each of the pastors in our association. It will help you to see how a church of any size can reach people for Christ by finding a need and being part of the solution. I believe that is what Jesus said when He stated, As you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to Me. Serving with you! Dr. Thane E. Barnes, Associational Missionary Consultant

Grace Baptist Church 1004 N. Mangum Street, Durham, NC 27701 Donations received at the church Monday, November 30 Friday, December 4 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. or bring to the YBA Resource Center at 4800 Garrett Road any other time. Volunteers, new toys, books, games and clothes are needed for the 2015 Christmas Toy Store Ministry. Bibles and other items to complete the store will come from monetary gifts. Volunteers will receive toys at Grace Baptist Church on Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Please take items to Grace Baptist Church at designated times. (Deliver to rear of church -- look for Christmas stockings on the lattice.) Toys may be left at the YBA Resource Center at other times. Qualifying low-income parents are invited each year to purchase items through the store. These items are sold at nominal prices. The money is used in crisis ministry. Why charge? Many shoppers are recipients of crisis ministry. They want to have a part in helping someone else. Also, parents want and need to have a tangible part in providing for their children at Christmas. We believe that this is every parent s desire. The Christmas Toy Store Ministry provides this opportunity. Counselors share the Gospel with all who shop. Families receive Bibles and other materials. Each year, we have found ways to provide ministries to families thoughout the year. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE FOLLOWING TIMES: PREPARE STORE: Monday-Friday, November 30-December 4, 2015-10:00am - 1:00pm (Men needed to set up tables on Monday, November 30 at 9:30am) PARENTS SHOP: Monday-Wednesday, December 7-9, 2015 Counselors and Shopper Aides needed: 9:00am - 11:30am ~ 11:30am - 2:00pm ~ 6:00pm - 8:00pm VOLUNTEERS ARE ALSO NEEDED TO MARK BIBLES WITH THE PLAN OF SALVATION.
