Lent at MPLC Ash Wednesday, March 1 Service of Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Midweek Lenten Worship Services Wednesdays: March 8, 15, 22, 29, and April 5 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Come and listen as five of our members share their faith stories with us during our midweek worship services. Lenten Potlucks Wednesdays: March 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5, at 5:30 p.m. Potlucks will precede each of the evening Lenten services. The main dish will be provided by the church, and you can provide the rest (salad, rolls, casserole, dessert, etc.). Plates, bowls, silverware, and beverages will be provided. All are welcome! Lenten Devotional Booklets Available TODAY! Free Indeed, this year s ELCA Lenten Devotional Booklets, will be available at the top of each ramp and at the welcome center in the narthex, beginning this weekend. These beautiful booklets are free for the taking, reading and reflecting. The daily devotions are based on Luther s Small Catechism very fitting in this, the 500 year anniversary of the reformation. Each day includes a reading from the Catechism (The 10 Commandments, the Apostle s Creed, The Lord s Prayer, the Sacraments and more), along with a photograph to ponder, a quotation to think on, a short written reflection and a prayer. This year s Lent Event will be on Friday, March 3. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by crafts and a scavenger hunt. This event is for families with children 3 years old 5 th grade. Take a look at the sample crafts in the narthex, and please sign up for this event in the narthex or the education wing.

For more information, visit www.thewaterproject.org Bean Soup Mix - Sale TODAY! The Middle School youth will be selling bean soup mix this weekend in the narthex. Suggested donation of $5 per soup mix. All donations will benefit the food pantry at Holy Communion Lutheran Church. German Dinner & Luther Movie Fundraiser All are invited to a German Dinner and Luther Movie on Friday, March 31. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. with a movie to follow at 7:00 p.m. The movie is Rick Steves Luther and The Reformation. Freewill Donations will benefit 23 of our High School youth going on a Mission Trip to the Adirondack Mountains this July. The menu will include; brats, hot dogs, German potato salad, schnitzel, applesauce, sauerkraut, rye bread, and various deserts. German-themed raffle baskets will be available starting March 19 at worship services in the narthex. Raffle Tickets: $1 per ticket, $5 for 6 tickets, $20 for 30 tickets. Raffle winners will be called at 6:50 p.m. on March 31. You do not need to be present to win. About the Movie: Rick Steves is a famous travel TV host best known for his European travel shows on PBS. A Lutheran himself, he wanted to create a 1-hour documentary about Martin Luther and the Reformation in celebration of the 500 th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. He brings interesting history with a twist of his wit to the program. It is suitable for all ages. It s a great way to learn more about our Lutheran heritage! Muslim / Christian Interfaith Dialog Lunch We will have a Muslim/Christian Interfaith Dialog session on Saturday, March 18 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. MPLC high school youth are invited to have lunch and discussion with the youth group from American Albanian Islamic Center. High School Mission Trip - Next Group Builder The next group builder is Sunday, March 19 from noon-2:00 p.m. Everyone going on the trip is expected to be there! Invitation to Worship at Emaus On Sunday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Krista will be the guest preacher at Emaus Lutheran Church (1925 Summit Ave Racine). This will be a bi-lingual (Spanish and English) service with our partner congregation. They have worshiped with us before at Advent and Lenten services. This is a great opportunity for us to worship at their place. Help us strengthen this tie with our neighbors in Christ! VBS 2017 - save the date!
