Rest of the day is free. (B) DAY 2 15th DECEMBER ISTANBUL (Day Tour) After the breakfast you will meet your guide and visit Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia first. Then you will walk to Spice Market and explore the market and around. After a lunch break you will head to Galata Sufi Lodge.(B) Today you will need comfortable walking shoes and sice the tour will be in December you might need to keep your rain jackets somewhere handy. BLUE MOSQUE: This monumental mosque was built by Sultanahmet I of the Ottoman Empire in the early 17th Century. It is a true masterpiece with its six minarets. The interior is decorated with 20,000 exquisite blue tiles from the town of Iznik. HAGIA SOPHIA: Doesn t matter which part of the world you live in if you study architecture you study this building as well. It is an architectural monument and it was built by Justinian of the Byzantine Empire in 6th Century. Hagia Sophia was the largest church for almost 1000 years in the world with its massive central dome. Inside you can see some of the finest Byzantine mosaics.

GALATA SUFI LODGE: A few steps off the modern Istiklal Street you will walk throgh the gate of this museum and travel back in time. It is founded as a lodge for the Mevlevi Sufis, the most mystical sact of Islam, at 15 th century. Now it is a museum where you can find the dresses, instruments and the of course the hats of the sufis with their meanings. DAY 3 16th DECEMBER ISTANBUL to KONYA Today you will fly to Konya. All transfers will be arranged. When you get to Konya you will first check in to your hotel and after some time to rest you will visit the Museum of Whirling Dervishes. (BD) Whirling Dervish Museum: This was actually a burial place for Mevlana, the founder of Sufi sect, and his family but through the years with the buildings added around this place turned into the main lodge of the Whirling Dervishes. It is a museum since 1927 where you can have an idea about their life style, the rules ıf the sect and where you can see the tombs of Mevlana.

DAY 4 17th DECEMBER KONYA (SEB-I ARUS) Depending on this years agenda of the Seb-I Arus we will book the English program. Tonight we will join the Seb-i Arus. (BD) SEB-I ARUS: in Persian Seb means night and Arus means wedding. It s actually being one with Allah. So the night when Mevlana died, it is not the end but actually the beginning. This is why it is called Seb-i Arus and this is kept as a festival since then. DAY 5 18th DECEMBER KONYA TO CAPPADOCIA After the breakfast you will drive to Cappadocia. On the way you will first stop at Sultanhan Caravanserai which was used as a hotel for the caravans during 13th century. Once we get to Cappadocia before heading to the hotel you will visit Kaymakli Underground City which was a hiding place for the locals from the enemy troops. (B) Sultanhan Caravanserai: Caravanserais are ancient hotels for the caravans. In Turkey so far we found around 100 of them and most of them are on the Silk Road like Sultanhan. Sultanhan is the largest on in Turkey and it is built for the Seljuk Sultan Keyqubad during 13th Century. After a good restoration it is open to public now and here you will get a good idea about the caravanserais and usage of them. Cappadocia: Even though it was a big kingdom in the history today Cappadocia is the place where we have the funny rock shapes. Several volcano eruptions filled up the region with lava, ashes, mud and tufa and the nature gave these funny shape which is called Fairy Chimneys by the locals. It is a unique landscape with a great history behind. And exploring what Cappadocia offers to you will be a great adventure.

Kaymakli Underground City: This is a hiding place for the locals but it is really like a city underground. Kaymakli is good for 6000 people and they can live here for 6 months without coming outside. It like a maze for the strangers and this actually stopped the enemies to go in to these underground cities to seek for the locals. With your guide you will explore the tunnels of Kaymakli and you will sometimes need to duck to do this. DAY 6 19th DECEMBER CAPPADOCIA (DAY TOUR) Early in the morning depending on the weather there will be a chance of hot air balloon ride. After the breakfast you will visit Goreme Open Air Museum and Uchisar Castle. You will also have chance to do panoramic view stops to see the region from different angles. (B) Goreme Open Air Museum: It is a monastery combined of churches with beautiful frescos inside. The stories of Bible were written to the walls of these churches by these paintings so illiterate people can read the Bible through these paintings. You will visit these rock churches one by one and have chance to compare these frescos made at different eras. Uchisar Castle: This was a hill by itself and carved out by the locals and turned in to a small village. They also used the peak of the hill to give signal by fire to the other villages and towns in case of danger. Today you can go up to the peak and enjoy the great view of Cappadocia.

DAY 7 20th DECEMBER CAPPADOCIA TO ISTANBUL You will fly back to Istanbul. All transfers will be arranged. Today your afternoon will be free to explore rest of Istanbul (B) In the afternoon you can visit Topkapi Palace. Topkapi Palace was home to the Ottoman Sultans for 400 years.
