Tuesday, July 4 th The church office will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Note from the Pastor : Dear Family, We at Chapin Presbyterian offer sweet praise to the Lord Jesus Christ every Sunday. I am thankful for our pastors, our musicians and worship leaders, the elders, deacons, and ushers who lead us in that! And I know that our love for His Word, our adoration of Him in song and in prayer is glorifying to the Lord. By His grace, He has made this body zealous for His Gospel and anxious to serve! Worship is at the core of who we are as a church. We are a people set apart to glorify God in praise, declaring His excellencies and rejoicing in Him! As such it s important for us to be constantly considering our worship, as an expression of our devotion and love. Psalm 150 calls all of God s people to worship in the sanctuary with a passion that parallels the worship in His mighty heavens! We are to praise Him according to and in the measure of His excellent greatness! Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (v6). So, I have to ask myself, do I? Do we, as a church? Do we love and worship Him with all of our heart and all of our soul and all of our strength? Would anybody walking into the sanctuary and looking at me believe, That man loves His Savior? Would I worship Jesus face to face like I typically worship on Sunday mornings? And what would that look like? I expect some, maybe many of us can relate? Especially in our culture where men in particular are not encouraged to express their deep need (of any kind!), and especially not in public! It can be hard to seek after authentic, heart-driven worship. And it can be even harder for us each to know what that means for us, individually! As we pursue (every year, I hope, by God s grace!) deeper and richer worship, I don t know what that looks like for you, individually. I don t have a quota in mind for how many hands must be raised, how many tears must fall. I am not responsible for your personal worship of Jesus you are. What I am responsible for is seeing that we as a church are obedient to God s commands in worship, and that our hearts are set free within those boundaries like sheep in a safe pasture. My desire is that you will be encouraged, equipped and exhorted to worship more and more deeply, just as God has made you not that you will be required to worship in any particular manner, nor that you will be forbidden to worship in any God-honoring way. This will probably mean a greater variety of expressions of worship for our church, overall; it may sometimes mean that we must die to our own comforts or our expectations of others, instead rejoicing that they are worshiping from their own hearts, in their own ways; it may sometimes mean misunderstandings or confusion or missteps as the leadership wrestles with our own hearts and preferences. But Psalm 149 says, Let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise His name making melody to Him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation. As we praise His holy name, offering our inadequate praise, know that the Lord takes pleasure in His people and their songs! Rejoicing over their lisping praise of His name! And He has delivered us salvation in Christ Jesus. He is worthy of our heart-filled worship. Amen. Love, Marcus Flower Dates Still Available The flower calendar for 2017 still has dates available for you to choose your special flower date in memory, honor or celebration of your loved one. Your help is also needed with the children on Sunday mornings. Then Trevor could use your help in the youth program; lots of action there! Then for those of you who could help for about 45 minutes one Sunday morning a month, we would welcome you to work either as a Parking Lot Greeter, a Door Greeter or at the Reception Desk! All delightful opportunities to meet visitors and members of the church family you might not know. If you would like to help in any of those areas just let me know and I will get the right person to call you; and they will joyfully call you! The Father gave each of us gifts with which to serve the church family, if none of these opportunities sound good to you, call me and we will explore other opportunities. See you Sunday!
