Experience the many layers of Payson Welcome to Payson, Utah we invite you to experience the many layers our city has to offer. You ll enjoy our city s rich history, opportunities for business growth, gorgeous mountain range not to mention that the recreation in Payson is unsurpassed. Payson is a full-service community and provides all municipal services including a public library, located in our Historic Downtown area; police, fire and ambulance services; municipal power; and a sanitary landfill. Payson is fortunate to have a wide range of medical services, including a full-service HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) hospital supported by several medical offices. Payson is a city with a big business attitude with appropriate planning and opportunity. Yet, we pride ourselves in keeping a small-town feel. Who says big cities offer it all? We pride ourselves in being away from red lights, traffic congestion and the hustle and bustle of busy people. Stop by and see for yourself the magic of Payson we re sure you won t miss the big city too much. 2

Experience the Many Education Options Education is key in providing opportunity for growth. Nebo School District provides the public education for school-aged children. Payson offers five elementary schools, two junior high schools and two high schools. And, according to the requirements of the Utah Performance Assessment System for Students (UPASS) 99.53 percent of all eligible Nebo graduates receive a diploma. There are also public charter schools in adjacent communities of Santaquin, Salem and Spanish Fork. If you are interested in private education, Helaman Academy is a private school focusing on developing faith in Christ and Christian character as well as rigorous academics for grades K-8. Payson is also conveniently located to many options for institutions of higher learning. Brigham Young University (BYU) is located in Provo, Utah, and is approximately 15 minutes north of Payson. BYU boasts approximately 8,500 degrees per year to students. Utah Valley University (UVU) is located in Orem, Utah and is approximately 20 minutes north of Payson. UVU graduated 3,742 students in 2009. Mountainland Applied Technology Center (MATC) has two locations close to Payson: one in Provo and one in Spanish Fork. MATC provides quality career and technical education and training to over 6,500 students. Provo is also home to Stevens Henager College and University of Phoenix. We love doing business in the Payson community. Besides the beauty of residing at the foot of the majestic Wasatch Mountains, the semi-rural nature of the community has produced a family-oriented work force that personifies the values of honesty, loyalty, hard work, dedication, and friendliness. The recreational opportunities in this mountain valley are unlimited. I don t think there is a better place in the United States to do business and raise a family. Kevin A. Johnson CEO, Mountain View Hospital 3

Experience the hometown charm and celebrations I would like to welcome you to Payson, Utah and let you know what a great place this is to live and work. As a resident and business owner I can tell you that the atmosphere in Payson and the support of our residents is the best on earth. Because of the involvement and dedication of our citizens the hometown atmosphere will remain no matter how big our city grows. I encourage everyone to come and experience the many layers of Payson. The magic of any developing city is when its charm is preserved during growth. Unique community events include: Scottish Festival, Salmon Supper and Onion Days Celebration. Now tell us what s better than enjoying lovely summer nights surrounded by friends and family all while enjoying local band music? Not much by our standards. Payson s band concerts in Memorial Park are a summer tradition of more than 100 years. The Payson Band performs every Sunday evening at 8 p.m. during the summer months and the event is free to the public! The Scottish Festival is held annually in July. A bagpipe competition, traditional highland games, a gathering of Scottish family clans, and of course, food booths and thematic arts and crafts can be enjoyed during this festival. Thousands of out-of-town visitors flock to Payson for its annual Salmon Supper held the first Friday in August. Attendees are treated to fresh salmon (flown in just for Rick Moore Mayor the event) grilled over an apple wood fire with all the fixings. This event is so popular, it s the largest one-day event in the entire state of Utah. 4 Summer is brought to an end during Payson s Onion Days Celebration. Onion Days is Utah s largest Labor Day weekend celebration. Some of the festivities include: Parade and carnival rides Fireworks Flower and art show Craft boutiques in Memorial Park Various youth activities Community theater production 5K and 10K races Recreation is literally in around every corner. Payson features a new aquatic center. The aquatic center has a beach entrance leisure pool, interactive kids play structure, current river with vortex, slide tower with two slides, competitive lap pool, several picnic areas and concessions stand. And if golf is your game, a visit to Gladstan Golf Course is a must. Gladstan is an 18-hole championship course located in the foothills of Payson with a gorgeous view of Utah County. Payson also features a city-based recreation program offering over 15 activities for both youth and adults. Some youth activities include a variety of sports, cheerleading, dancing as well as fishing. Adult activities are primarily centered on sports as well. The mission of Payson Parks and Recreation is to promote and support leisure and recreational activities and facilities enriching the physical, mental and intellectual health of the citizens of Payson.

Experience Payson s Rich History Payson s roots were planted in the mid 1800s and that is where the legacy of hard work started. Our city is steeped with a rich pioneer history and glimpses of that time gone by can still be seen in our Historic Downtown area. Historic buildings house several businesses and line the main street in our city. Mixed residential and commercial uses are highly encouraged in our downtown area. Our ancestors laid the foundation for a well-planned city and Payson is still carrying on that tradition of planning well for appropriate growth. Payson s annual Salmon Supper is Utah s largest one-day event. Thousands of visitors enjoy fresh salmon, a warm summer night and a hometown event that has become a tradition to many. 5

Experience the many Business Opportunities Whether you are looking for an industrial or commercial business area, Payson has several options. The Payson Business Park, located adjacent to Interstate 15, provides a corporate atmosphere and is a Utah State Economic Development Area. The Business Park is also located near a future commuter rail station. The Business Park is served by a state-of-the-art fiber optic system and full municipal services. Because Payson is the southern gateway to Utah County, the Business Park is uniquely located to provide employment opportunities to all residents of Utah and Juab County. Freeway commercial services in Payson cater to the traveling public where large commercial projects are located near both the north and south freeway interchanges. In these locations, shoppers can choose from several retail stores, restaurants, hotels and other commercial uses. These areas are well served with a wide variety of housing options for employees. Experience Breathtaking Views Payson has been good to us, we love doing business in Payson. Evan Ockey WalMart Manager Payson is nestled in the glorious Wasatch Mountain Range. The Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway begins in Payson canyon and is 38 miles of gorgeous lakes, mountain biking and hiking trails, picnic areas and campgrounds. Payson is approximately 55 miles south of Salt Lake City, and is located just off Interstate 15, which is undergoing an intensive expansion to accommodate growth. The Utah Transit Authority has mapped Payson as a future site for the Front Runner Commuter Rail that extends to all major cities north of Payson. 6

LOCATION Payson is centrally located in Utah. Within hours, one can be in a variety of glorious mountain ranges or head south to breathtaking views of red rocks and desert scenes. Either direction you head in, access to Interstate 15 is only minutes away. Larger cities of Provo and Orem are just off Interstate 15 and provide access to larger city services, including Sundance resort. Sundance is in Provo canyon and features yearround recreation. Heading even further north, approximately 55 miles north, is Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake valley boasts eight ski resorts. Payson s population and city is ever growing. Payson was chosen as a future site of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints temple. Temples are a lovely tourist attraction for many people. The future temple will be visible from Interstate 15 and easily accessed. Visitors will pass several businesses en route to the temple. 7

L ocated at the southern edge of Utah Valley is a beautiful city known as Payson. It is situated in a spot known for beautiful mountains, fantastic recreational opportunities, and a great climate. However, more impressive about Payson is its wonderful population and work force. Two fine uni versities, Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University, are located closely to Payson. Their resources are available to edu cate the work force. Further education and train ing is available at technical schools, community colleges and high schools. The work ethic of Payson s citizens is superb. With farms, manufacturing firms and orchards in the surrounding area, people who live here are not strangers to hard work and productivity. A favorable tax structure, welcoming civic government, community and business leaders also help to establish a work environment second to none. You will find Payson is a great location for a business and a great place to live. We hope you will look into locating your business in Payson today. 801-465-5200
