We are observing 40 days of Love in Lenten season to create a warmer fellowship among our congregation members. Through this act of love, Christ lives with us in Word, in the sacrament and in our neighbor. Lent makes it possible to create something new within ourselves and around us. It makes us realize that, love is the core of God s creation, and life is the gift from God. Today in the midst of our busy life, when we sit back and relax, we realize what a gift our life is not just to us but to everyone who knows us. When we look at the Parkland school shooting, everybody blames others, but no one takes responsibility. It was so sad that Nicholas Cruz couldn t meet even one person who could help to change his mind. He was filled with hatred, loneliness, depression and segregation. There is no love, no friend to direct him to the right path.

Love is the Key...continued from page 1 Acts of love shows that we care and have concern for each other. Partially I do have a part in the shooting because I did not do my part as a pastor to witness Christ to the world, to the needy and lonely. Christ should live in this world through us. We failed to give a healthy environment to people like Cruz. If every Christian can live like Christ, such as share love, kindness, and practice forgiveness, we would have changed him or any other shooter or terrorist. During the 40 days of Lent, let us take part to appreciate and care for each other. We can show our care and appreciation any way we like: it may be writing a note of appreciation, having a cup of coffee or a meal together to talk, share and pray. By doing these, we can make our church a warmer place where we can extend the love of God to our community, county, state and world. How do we heal the world s hatred? Only through the love of God. What the world needs now? It needs love. We see that hate is the reason for violence. Hate finds a way to express its ultimate. The antidote for hate is love. St. Paul writes, It [Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves, Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:7. We love God because He [God] first loved us. 1 John 4:9. May the love of God bind us together as God s big family. Shalom Emmanuel Lenten Soup Schedule We have been invited to participate in the Lenten Soup Suppers. Enjoy the Convenience of Electronic Giving As Trinity Lutheran Church continues into 2018, it is important to know what support we can depend on from our congregation members. By knowing what you are willing to commit financially, we are able to better plan for the future. Please consider setting up a recurring giving plan. Automating your financial commitments means your contributions will be received on a steady, uninterrupted basis. To set up a recurring giving schedule, complete a paper authorization form and return it to Joyce Wallace, Financial Secretary. The authorization forms can be found on the hallway bulletin board.

Church Office Note If you are unable to do your Sunday Servant position, please make sure to find someone to switch with you! The schedule is posted a month in advance on the bulletin board outside the office. Remember the office work is being handled by our church council members who are full time professionals as well as parents. ALICE TRAINING In light of the recent tragedy in Florida, this report is very difficult for me to write. Concern for our own well being pales in comparison to the loss of the families and friends of the children taken away at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. We must pray for those who are suffering, and pray that there is never another such incident. Last week we were provided a safety training presentation and demonstration by local law enforcement personnel, concerning safety in our worship and education activities. Two officers from the Boone County Sheriff s Department and an officer from Lebanon Police Department presented a slide show of current information regarding emergency planning and actions, and a review and demonstration of issues in our Ruth Circle building. About a dozen Church members attended. Your Council felt that, although an incident is not likely in our situation, with free professional training available, it would be good to hear the latest information. Although the training concentrated on the active shooter scenario, other safety concerns were reviewed. The information provided by the Officers outlined recent incidents, the reactions of law enforcement, and the changes that have been made to better protect those in danger. Although a lot of information was provided and there are many actions that can be instituted, your Council will be considering those actions that are felt to be most valuable without a lot of inconvenience or cost of implementation. Council will provide a report in the near future of proposed actions. A good summary of what to do in an emergency: Get Out of the building! Don t Wait for others. Get to a Safe Place, then Call 911. More detailed information will be provided with the Council report. In the mean time, be safe! Peace Tom Come join us next time. March 20th at 7pm at Brenda s House for fun, fellowship and devotion.
