Elected to the Parish Council in 1998 serving for 19+ years. Elected and served as Parish Council Secretary for 3 years, Second Vice President for 3 years, First Vice President for 6 years and President for 3 years. Currently serving on Stewardship Committee, Building Committee, and Chairman of the Maintenance Committee.

Elene Batanchiev East Northport, NY I have been a member of the St. Paraskevi community since 1968 when I arrived to the US with my parents from Greece. While in high school and early college years I taught Greek school and Sunday school. Once married, I moved to Astoria till 1989 when I returned to East Northport with my husband Sam and my two children (John and Tula). As a family we have been involved in various organizations and activities ever since. Both of my children went through Sunday school; my daughter graduated from Greek school and they both participated in GOYA; my son was an altar boy till he graduated high school and played basketball and volleyball with St. Paraskevi. I taught Sunday school from 1992 to 2012. I have been a member of the Parish Council from 2003 till now. I have chaired (or co-chaired at times) the Grand Raffle Committee from 2003 to 2014. I am member of the Philoptochos. I love the St. Paraskevi community and I am proud to serve on any committee or activity that helps this beautiful church.

George Bennis Commack, NY It has been an honor and a privilege to be on the Parish Council for 23 years serving Saint Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Church. Looking back I have been on almost every committee established, cochaired many major fundraisers, held executive board positions and volunteered my time in any way possible to help our beautiful church. For the past 12 years I have served as the Church Coordinator helping with scheduling Parish Council members for Sacrament and Liturgy services just to name a few. I have been a coach for our 7 and 8 year old G1 Girls Basketball Team for 2 years and excited to be moving up to G2 with our 9 and 10 year olds in September. I am married with two children and look forward to many more years of serving this wonderful Parish that I grew up in since 1971.

Gigi Franklin Greenlawn, NY Hi, my name is Gigi Kastrinakis Franklin. This will be my third year on the parish council. I have been a lifelong member of Saint Paraskevi. My parents were involved in various clubs and when I was young I participated in Sunday School, GOYA and Cheerleading. As an adult I have been a member of the Greek School PTO, a member of the Greek School Board, and a Sunday School Teacher. I am married with two children who also participated in the church when they were young. I love Saint Paraskevi and feel that our parish is one big family.

Christine Ilasi Smithtown, NY I have been a steward of St. Paraskevi for approximately 15 years. I am married with 3 daughters and live in Smithtown. As a member of the St. Paraskevi community I have had the pleasure of running the HOPE program, co-directing the Sunday School program for several years and currently serving my second term on the Parish Council Board.

Nick Kontos Dix Hills, NY I am proud to have served as a Parish Council member since January 2014, and I have been teaching 1st grade Sunday school for about 4 years now. One of my responsibilities as a Parish Council member is to be the liaison between the Parish Council and GOYA. I have been a steward in good standing for many years, and have raised all three of my children here at Saint Paraskevi. I am looking forward to many more great years serving our great Saint Paraskevi parish.

Dean Koutsoubis Melville, NY My family has been a member of St Paraskevi since 2003. I have been truly blessed with the honor and privilege of serving as a member of the Parish Council since 2012. Professionally, I am a structural engineer designing buildings throughout the New York Metropolitan area

John Latzos Brentwood, NY For those who may or may not know me or know me by face, my name is John Latzos. I grew up in this community since I was a young boy and always wanted to help out within the Church and community. I started off by getting involved as an Altar boy which slowly developed into volunteering for the picnic and Festival, coaching Jr. Boys GOYA Basketball and this year I am on the Parish Council as well as the Chairman for the 2017 Festival. I look forward to dedicating my time to helping the church and being a big part of the community and a young adult role model to the youth.

Steve Margarites Dix Hills, NY My name is Steven Margarites and I have served on the Parish Council for 9 years. During those years, I served as 2nd Vice President, Vice President and the last 4 years, as President. I have been a part of the St. Paraskevi community my entire life. As a child, I was part of GOYA as well as played basketball and even danced at our annual Grecian Bazaar. I have two kids, Athena and Zoe who were active in GOYA, Athletics and the Choir. During the last 9 years, I have coached our GOYAns in both basketball and the Olympics, as well as Co-Chaired our Food Festival.

Peter Orfanakos Greenlawn, NY I came to St. Paraskevi with my family in 1968 at the age of 4. In 1977, I held the ceremonial shovel at the groundbreaking for the classrooms. In 1982 I was made an official Acolyte of the Church, with my fellow Altar Boys, and given a cross by his Eminence Archbishop Iakovos. From 1990-1994 I was President of our YAL. In 1995 I joined the Parish Council, proudly serving as Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Chairman of the Finance and Festival Bar Committees over the next 20 years. In 2014 I was a coach of the JOY G3 Girls basketball team, the only youth basketball team in the history of our Church to win a Championship. Currently, I am co-chairing the campaign to renovate our Hellenic Center (Have you made a pledge yet? If not, please see me!). Together with my wife, Helen and our daughters Demi & Diana, we are proud to be stewards of this great Community!

Pati Pericli East Northport, NY I am a wife and mother of two currently living in the East Northport/Commack area. I work for the Suffolk County Police Department in addition to being a co-owner of the Akropolis Greek Restaurant in Nesconset with my husband Loucas. I have served on the Parish Council this being my second term, participated in helping with Greek School, JOY, GOYA, the Olympics and many fund raising events. I have been a Chair/Co-Chairperson for the Food Festival for two consecutive years. I am proud to be a part of the St. Paraskevi Parish Council family. I worry for the sick, am heartbroken for the sad, help the less fortunate and am thrilled for those who succeed. I pray for all.

Jason Poulis Greenlawn, NY I have been attending St. Paraskevi since 1975 when my family moved from Brooklyn to Long Island. I went through the Greek School and Sunday School programs here. I became a steward after returning from college, and first got on the Parish Council in the mid 1990's, which I was on for seven years. I was the Assistant Treasurer for four of those years. After a short break, I got back on the Parish Council in the mid 2000's for three more years, being the Assistant Secretary one of those years. After another break, I got back on the parish council in 2015. I am married and have three daughters who participate in a number of the church organizations.

Whether volunteering on the Parish Council, at the church festival or feeding the homeless, I have always been very proud to serve my community. Aside from being a mom, my most fulfilling job has been teaching our faith to my beloved Sunday School students.
