Lesson # Six 5/7/2017 Faith And Our Salvation 1
Salvation is by grace through faith alone based on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who came to die for us as our substitute. Jay Cole
Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace.
History Although the Southern Baptist Convention was organized in 1845, no formal confession of faith was adopted until 1925, when the SBC formulated the Baptist Faith and Message. The BF&M closely parallels the New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833. Revisions The BF&M was revised in 1963, amended in 1998, and completely revised in 2000.
