Puello St. Catherine parishioners donated 500 lbs. of school supplies to the Knights of Columbus effort T he Knights of Columbus from Council 7399 would like to thank all the parishioners of St. Catherine s who donated almost 500 pounds of school supplies to assist the two Catholic Guardian Schools and four of the local elementary schools in the parish area. During the week of August 10th, each one of four schools (Grove Park Elementary, W. E. Cherry Elementary, S. Bryan Jennings Elementary and Montclair Elementary) received 60 to 80 pounds of school supplies delivered by the Knights of Columbus. Each of the two Guardian Schools (St. Pius V and Holy Rosary) received over 100 pounds of school supplies. Bryce Pilliod delivering donated supplies to W.E. Cherry. Supplies also went to Montclair, SBJ and Grove Park, along with two guardian schools in Jacksonville.
P 4 A 23, 2015 Faith Formation Religious Education Interested in Becoming Catholic? RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It is the Catholic Church s way of initiating new members. Through Sunday Mass and weekly gatherings, those attending gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Catholic beliefs and practices. All are welcome, and there is no obligation to make any commitment to become Catholic. We welcome especially: Those who may be searching. Those who have never been baptized as Christians. Those who have been baptized in another Christian faith tradition and are now interested in the Catholic faith. Those who were baptized in the Catholic faith, but did not receive First Communion and/or Confirmation. The next gathering will take place on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00pm in Haut Hall. Yes, Pre-Evangelization sessions have begun, but we will accept applications for the retreat until Sept. 1. How is this retreat different from other retreats? Those who are involved in other groups or movements will find personal enrichment by participating in the Kerygma Retreat. It will enrich all of your other relationships and activities. This retreat is not a replacement or competition to your current involvement in other Church movements, programs, and organizations, like the Knights, CRHP, Cursillo, Teams of Our Lady, etc. Kerygma will strengthen your involvement in these ministries. The Kerygma process is unique because of its emphasis on the initial proclamation of the Gospel, ongoing formation in the faith, and the call to share our encounter with Christ to others. This week is Outreach Ministries Labor Ready/Outreach Meals We prepare a meal each Wednesday for the homeless and day workers of Labor Ready. I.M. BAPTISM PREPARATION: All parents wishing to baptize a child must attend a three week baptism preparation program held quarterly in English or Spanish. Donations for the 5 day candles are $5 per candle and for the 8 hour candles $2 per candle. CHAPEL: Our chapel is located behind the main altar or you may enter directly at the doorway near Kingsley Avenue from the driveway between Rooney Hall and the church. You may make a visit there during the day Monday thru Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All other times require a security code. DIVINE MERCY AND HOLY ROSARY DAILY: Please join us in the chapel following the 9:00 a.m. mass. All are welcome to join us in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Sundays for the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and Rosary. FLOWERS: Families wishing to give a donation toward the weekly floral arrangement on the altar or a flower arrangement placed in the Adoration Chapel in front of the Blessed Sacrament may do so in memory of or in celebration of a birthday or anniversary. REGISTRATION: Please register in the parish as soon as you move into the area. Blue registration cards are available in the pamphlet rack in the church vestibule. You may also come to the parish office during the week to register your family and your children for Religious Education. We welcome revisiting Catholics and invite them to call on our priests with any questions or information they may need to help on their journey back to the Lord. FUNERAL: Our pastor, Father Ignatius is responsible for all matters regarding liturgy and worship in the parish. Every Catholic has the right to the special grace of a Funeral Mass.
