ORGAN REMOVAL UPDATE! The Wicks Organ Company has begun rebuilding the pipe organ this past week. Wicks is located in Highland Illinois. They are the original builders of the organ. In fact Scott Wicks, the first owner s son, is on site and was here when the organ was built in 1985. For some reason we have not used them to work on our organ since then until now. The main organ console is being removed and sent to the Wicks shop in Illinois. The console will be completely rebuilt with solid state technology. This includes optical key contacts, new controllers, new lighting, new thumb pistons, and a new memory level of 100 (presently we have 1 level of memory). Also in the next week, Wicks will remain here repairing damaged pipes. They will further be repacking or lubricating stoppers, removing and taking to their shop for repair damaged reed pipes, adding sound deadening material to the blower, and removing and replacing the gaskets on six wind chests. The Console will remain at the Wicks shop till November when they will return to Green Bay to reinstall and complete tonal finishing. This is an in-depth toning by two people for over three days. This rebuild of the pipe organ will be the most extensive since the organ was built in 1985. The Antiphonal Organ in the front of the church will be used until the outage begins in September. PROJECT MERCY If you believe that honoring the dead is an important work of mercy, please feel free to attend any Mass of Resurrection (funeral Mass) for deceased members of our parish. You will be notified of the date and time of a parishioner funeral. If interested in participating in this work of mercy please call Mary Ellen at 920-438-7169 or 920-660-2922. HOLY BAPTISM Congratulations to Gianna Marie Parker Daughter of Adam & Megan Parker who was baptized on June 3rd. May God Bless You! MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPEDITION! Expedition = Spiritual Pilgrimage + Adventure! This awesome expedition is just for Middle School students. Consider sending your son or daughter on a journey to Door County with Catholic Youth Expeditions for an exciting day. Friday, June 23rd the St. Joseph Formation Center will introduce your middle schooler to a life of discipleship. Transportation is available from both Appleton and Green Bay. Limited need-based scholarships are available from vocations@gbdioc.org Visit http://cyexpeditions.org/ register/middle-school-expedition to register. Parish Directory Time 2018 brings the Roman Catholic Diocese of Green Bay s Sesquicentennial (150 th Anniversary), and a perfect time for a Parish Directory to commemorate the occasion. Cathedral & St. John s will be doing so as well. You will receive a free 8 x 10 of your portrait, a free copy of the finished directory, and the ability to order additional portraits. It is a wonderful opportunity to have your family portrait or Christmas card photographs taken. Although each parish will have their own directory committee, parish members can have their portraits taken at either parish s photography sessions. We are looking for a team of people to work with our organizers for each parish (Mike Parins for St. Johns and Mary Fisher for the Cathedral.) Please consider joining our current volunteers, as we need: Two coordinators from each parish. Two layout volunteers with computer skills (per parish) Sign-up volunteers. Host/hostesses for check-in on picture days. Follow-up phone callers. Many hands make light work. What a great chance to get to know your fellow parishioners! We hope you can join us to create this wonderful directory. Please call Cathedral office to share your time. 432-4348.
