Connecting all generations to Jesus as we stand for the Truth of the Gospel, show God s grace to all people, and raise up the next generation to do the same. Annual Report February 4, 2018 Annual Meeting Agenda -Welcome, Comments, and Prayer Business Meeting -Call to Order -Congregational Votes: -Approval of 2017 Minutes -2018 Budget Presentation and approval -Bylaw Changes -Business Matter -Election of New Elder and Deacons -New Business -Thank you to staff -Closing Prayer -Adjournment Since last time we met Pastor s Report One of the biggest sins Christians involuntarily commit is the sin of ingratitude. It is easy to call to mind the ways someone has failed us, but often more difficult to remember the positive things that he or she has done for us. In our relationship with God, we can fall into the same mistake. I know we meet every week for worship, but the annual meeting is a unique event that happens each year. Let s take just a moment and journey back together at all the God has done in the life of Rockland over the past year. Let us be counted among the grateful that stop to acknowledge the goodness of God in our midst. I can t wait to see what 2018 has in store for Rockland Community Church. -Lead Pastor, Jim Gribnitz 1

Minutes for Rockland Community Church 2017 Annual congregational Meeting Sunday, February 5, 2017 Opening Gordon Steere, discipleship elder, opened the meeting at 11:35 a.m. with a quorum present. (Dick Parks, lead elder, is not in attendance because of a family trip.) Lead pastor Jim Gribnitz prayed and then briefly reviewed the past year in light of God s goodness and in celebration, giving 100% credit to God and God alone. The Apostles Creed was professed together. Business Meeting Approval of Minutes of 2016 Congregational Meeting o Gordon called for a motion to approve the minutes from last year s annual meeting, noting a publication error in the meeting date listed in the title. The motion was made by Jed Burnham and seconded by Steve Selinske and put to vote: The motion carried unanimously. Election of New Elder, New Deacons, and New Clerk o The slate of candidates is as listed in the 2016 Annual Report. Gordon called for a motion to approve these candidates. Sandy Sanderson so moved, and Richard Kunter seconded. The vote to approve was unanimous. Budget o Jan Keating, lead deacon for the Operations Ministry team, reported first on 2016 financials. 2016 income did not meet budget, with a shortfall of $40,240. However, expenses also were below budget, and the year ended with a surplus of $19,450. The surplus funds are included for use in the 2017 budget. o Jan next presented the budget for 2017: budgeted income is $1,213,989 with projected expenses of $1,248,263. To alleviate the deficit and balance the budget, the following adjustments have been made: a decrease in staff expenses and general operating expenses, a decrease in the discipleship budget to more accurately reflect this team s expenses, and use of designated funds and Christmas Eve cash for the budget. o Gordon called for a motion to approve the budget as presented. Jed Burnham so moved, and Sue Engle seconded. Gordon called for discussion, and members of the elder board and Rockland staff addressed questions about the salary budgeted for a worship director; Christmas-Eve Sunday offering available to the Tanzania Action Committee; the building set-aside; wedding program policy; student ministry and children s ministry budgets; handbell choir; and budget calculations. Gordon called for a vote to approve the budget, and the vote was unanimous to approve. New Business o In response to questions from Steve Selinske and Richard Kunter about trends in attendance and membership, Chris Dodge, Rockland s director of operations, stated that these numbers have been stable through the pastoral transition. Current membership is 645. Closing Gordon thanked the staff of Rockland, recognizing their humbleness and caring and God-centered leadership. Gordon called on Judy Griebling to pray, and afterward he called for a motion to close the meeting. Bob Ehret motioned to adjourn, Jed Burnham seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 p.m. Minutes respectfully submitted by Kathy McManus, clerk 2
