Introduction My project "The Hero's Journey" is about a time in my life where I had feared going through some sort of journey but I built up the courage to face my fears and gained something positive from that. I choose to share about my experience when I began track & field and some of the struggles I triumphed over that ultimately made me a better person. This piece of writing had to also relate with "The Odyssey" and how typically all heroes have the same clockwize type pattern that happens repeatedly throughout their journeys from start to finish. The goal was to incorporate a real life scenario into this "Hero's Journey Template" and see how a regular day scenario can sometimes greatly resemble a hero's path from even the most fictional stories.
Explanation Summary of "The Odyssey" The Odyssey is a long narrative poem called a epic. This poem tells about a daring, smart, and courageous hero named Odysseus and his journey through strange creatures, large-scale events, divine interventions, and even treacherous weather. Despite all these obstacles Odysseus defeats anything that comes his way in seek of fulfilling his dream of one day returning home to his loving family he so longs for. In the end this remarkable hero went through the mountains and valleys and as a result received the treasure he had seeked by arriving back home where he can spend the rest of his days peacefully and happily with his loving family.
Essential Question How can a person's decisions or actions along their journey change his/her life? In my opinion a person's choices can shape the course of their life because there is a good and bad decision to everything. Depending what choose they decide to pick this can influence their future. For example even a simple decision like what to eat can change a person's life say if a person choose to eat fast food all their life chances are they will become obese and vise versa.
A Brief Description Of My News Report Next, I will be presenting to you fellow judges my news report on my "Hero's Journey". We had to create this to share to our audience our journey from a news reporters point of view.
Local Puerto Rican Teenager Sprints Through Track
Report Andrew Ruiz a Central Falls middle school student joins outdoor track for the first time and does an outstanding job. Coach Funnell tells us what a hard worker Andrew is and how he always makes it to practice on time ready to improve his running. "Andrew is one of the most dedicated runners I have had in a long time. He is a great sport and encourages others to try their hardest no matter where they stand as a runner and in life." Coach Funnell says. Just recently Andrew had won second place at his first meet and he decided to celebrated with his team instead of thinking of himself and being cocky. This sounds like the characteristics of a great athlete and hopefully we will be seeing more of this coming soon.
Important Comments/Quotes "I wasn't always this confident with being a runner and competing in front of people it just took time to bring out my inner courage to show people what kind of person I represent." "Joseph Campbell once told me "it is the cave you fear to enter that holds the treasure you seek" and now I realize what that means to me. I feared racing in front of people and making a mistake but after I did it I received love and graduated from my team and most of all from my family and that was the true treasure I obtained while in track. "
Connections We haven't heard a event like this since Odysseus had to race home to his family through all his troubles and tribulations. Just like Odysseus had to fight his way to his family which was home Andrew had to fight his way through the 100m dash so he could rejoin his team and family. In the end both Odysseus and Andrew both successfully gained the treasure they seeked. Which ultimately taught them to have courage and fight through any obstacle you may face because chances are you may be surprised what treasure lies ahead for you.
