A NOTE FROM FATHER ANDREW Dear Parish Family, The countdown has begun. Seven more days and we celebrate Christ s birthday, the day we have been preparing for during Advent. The greatest miracle. It will probably be a hectic time for some of us because of all that needs to be done. We might even say, or hear others say concerning all that needs to be done, It s impossible! Yet the impossible becomes possible. Remember the hope God has given us. Everything here at Holy Eucharist becomes possible because of all the volunteer ministers who help prepare our church for the Christmas season, the art & environment committee, the ministers of welcome, ushers, the Knights of Columbus, and so many more. Don t forget to sign up and help. In preparing for Christmas, I know that all of us have our own personal and family Christmas To Do List but what about our Holy Eucharist Family Christmas To Do List. This is our high season and our best opportunity of the whole year when it comes to evangelization - investing and inviting, welcoming new people to our community and introducing them in a new and exciting way to Jesus. Investing in the people that come to us at Christmas is so important that is why we are moving the Nativity crèche into the chapel and the parish Christmas Tree into the foyer. We want to create comfortable seating for those who come to us. Here are some of the things that we seriously need to consider putting on our TO DO LIST at Holy Eucharist as we open our doors to visitors: 1. Pray for our visitors. Beginning today and all through the entire Christmas season which ends on January 9th the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord keep them in your prayers. 2. Anticipate newcomers. We need to be sensitive and aware of all those who haven t come through our doors for a long time or who are coming through our doors for the first time ever. What is that experience going to be like for them? What role do I play in making that experience a good one? 3. Invite them. Be on high alert in my own life - to be on the lookout for possible invitees. 4. Welcome them. When the person has been away for a long time or coming to join us for the first time we need to be ready for her or him as the enter our doors. 5. Speak to them. Introduce yourself and welcome them to our community. Your part is so crucial and important for our upcoming Christmas celebrations. I ask everyone to do their best to make the Christmas experience here at Holy Eucharist warm, welcoming and one that people will not forget and want to return. Keep warm and have a wonderful week! See you at the Christmas masses. Fr. Andrew 2

December 16, 2018 3rd Sunday of Advent Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Philippians 4:6 St. Paul reminds us that our God is an abundant God, the ultimate giver of gifts. He promises to give us all that we need. When we trust that God will take care of us, it is easier for us to share what we have been given. Holy Rosary is said every Sunday morning at 8:00 am just before the beginning of the 8:30 am Mass Miraculous Medal Novena is said every Monday at 9:30 am Communion Service every Tuesday at 9:00 am Except on Holy Days 3

This year, at our 2 pm and 4 pm Christmas Eve Masses, we will celebrate Jingle Jam! A children s program for our young disciples in grades 1-5. ADVENT MESSAGE SERIES JOIN US EACH WEEK! Our culture tends to jump into Christmas mode the day after Halloween, often sending us into an exhausted frenzy. However, the truth is that we have limited time and resources to prepare for Christmas, on top of dealing with normal life issues that don t go on hold, just because the holidays are here. In this series, we will look into the pressures of the Christmas season, and explore how to handle the season with the lasting peace and joy of Christ. We will also view Advent as a model how to make positive decisions throughout the rest of the year, as well. Visit holyeucharist.org/about-us/messages-homilies to read Father s past messages. WEEK 1: Growing in Love WEEK 2: How we can say YES to God and prepare our hearts. WEEK 3: Saying NO to some extra stuff and giving to others. In this message we will look at how the best yes might mean saying no to some extra stuff we don t need and giving to those in need. WEEK 4: Say YES to relationships 5
