1 Welcome to Goodwill EPC If this is your first time at Goodwill, we trust that you are enjoying your visit. We understand that arriving at a church for the first time can be intimidating, so through the following information, we hope to make it as clear as possible how to locate activities and provide general information. As a guest at Goodwill Church, our aim is to provide you with useful information as well as offer you and your family a comfortable and friendly environment to worship. At each service, some of our men and women will be wearing name tags denoting them as Deacons and Elders. They are available to answer any questions that you may have and to provide you with any assistance you need. Our ushers, who are also wearing name tags, are at your service as well. Please note, as a guest, do not feel obligated to participate in the offering. If God calls you to make Goodwill your home, He may then request of your time, talent and offering. For your convenience, we would like you to know the location of a few important services before you read any further. Our restrooms are located in the CE Building, across the parking lot from the Sanctuary. Enter the blue doors and turn right and the restrooms will be down the hall on your left. The Nursery, which is open for infants to children in Pre K, is located directly ahead when you enter the blue doors of the CE Building. There is also a table to your right when you enter the CE Building which will be staffed with someone to answer any questions you have. Please fill out the Visitor s Card, which is attached to the back cover of this bulletin. After filling it out, you may tear it off at the perforation and place it in the offering plate or hand it to an usher on your way out. We would like to welcome you with a letter and a phone call from the Pastoral staff. Now, we are trusting in Him to meet the need we have for loving nursery volunteers to serve specifically on Saturdays at the 5:00p service, and also on Sundays at either the 8:00a or the 2:00p services. Please pray and ask God if He is calling you to serve these precious little ones at one of these services. Even though this mail is junk, however, we still can learn from it. Look at the junk mail we get in our mailboxes outside our homes or on our computers. Some of what we get has been targeted to us. A study has been made of our buying habits or web browsing habits and a marketing program has processed this into a marketing strategy to get us to buy or buy into something. In other words, we actually asked for some of the junk mail we get. This principle is true in our spiritual lives as well. Some of our distractions come from our attractions, which are never kept private. Once Madison Avenue or Satan learns what we want, they use it on us. So investigate your distractions as you eliminate them. What do they say about you? Is there anything you want that is out of sync with the ways or Word of God? It s an aha moment when you realize that your worst distractions don t come from outside of you, but from inside of you. If something keeps showing up as a distraction in your devotional life, it may actually be something God wants you to focus on in prayer. It may also be something He s telling you to get help with. No addict finds freedom through denying his or her addiction. No problem is solved because it is ignored. A person with his or her eyes closed is as good as blind. Time heals nothing. Every secret is temporary. Is your junk mail telling you something? Elders Elders are spiritual overseers of the church. They are representatives of the congregation.
