Church of Saint Peter Heart of the Ministry Being Involved at St. Peter s SIGN UP HAS STARTED FOR LENTEN FAITH SHARING DURING THE SIX WEEKS OF LENT Make this Lent a reawakening and deepening in faith by joining a small faith-sharing group. Jesus often went off by Himself to be united with His Father. So too, it is good for our spirit to set aside some special times to reflect and pray. Why not take the time then to share with a small group of parishioners and hear them express their faith? Registration forms are in the Narthex. You will find it will enrich your spiritual life and help to deepen your relationship with God. We will read Scripture and share our reflections. The group will meet for 60-90 minutes a week at someone s home or a place of your choice. The opportunity to sign up for a day and time of your choice will be February 23-24. Groups will then be organized based on those preferences and you will be notified and given the materials. Meet new people! Make more friends! Grow in your relationship with God. Small group faith-sharing. A Vocation View If you love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you and pray for those who maltreat you, realize that God has already called YOU. Visit www.10000vocations.org to read testimonials from seminarians and young people from our archdiocese who have entered Religious Orders. In the Spotlight at St. Peter s Catholic Services Appeal...be goers of the sword, and not hearers only. James 1: 22 What does your faith mean to you? Faith is something so personal that words cannot easily explain it. Faith can bring peace amidst turmoil, and true joy even in difficult circumstances. As Catholics, we are called to freely live out our faith and to give back to others as Christ has poured Himself our for us. The Catholic Services Appeal Foundation (CSAF) is an independent non-profit focused solely on supporting 20 designated outreach ministries and nothing else. By partnering with the CSAF, you help those in need: the hungry, the orphan, the sick, suffering, dying and grieving. You assist in ministering to the imprisoned, evangelizing Catholic youth and college students, and strengthening families. You enable the sacraments to be provided to Catholics young and old alike. To join in the work of the CSAF, simply connect via your mobile device to csafspm.org, or complete a paper pledge form and drop it in the collection basket or mail it directly to the Foundation s office in Plymouth, Minnesota. Thank you for responding to the Gospel call to serve the poor, support life, strengthen faith and transform lives by God s grace Unified We Rise! Food for Thought Ten pockets of prayer for the new year January dawns, fresh and clean. The beginning of a new year. Although Advent is technically our new year in the Church, January offers another jump-start a chance to change and a renewed resolve to eat better, exercise more or waste less time online. Making time for prayer is a common resolution. We might try to read more Scripture, make a Holy Hour each week or start praying the rosary. But what if we looked for small moments each day in the midst of what we re already doing to turn to God? Here are Ten pockets of prayer to dig into for the new year. Times and places where we can meet God between work and home, kids and commute, chores and rest. Try one and see where it leads. Pray when you wake up. Start each day with the sign of the cross, or pray the words of Psalm 118:24: this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Rise 10 minutes before the kids get up and sit with a cup of coffee to center yourself in prayer. Let the word of God be the first thing your eyes see each morning. Bless your spouse. Say a prayer together before you each begin your daily work. Or light two candles while you re getting ready in the morning: one to remember your spouse s callings and one to pray for your own marriage vows as you say I do for a new day. Faith at Home by Laura Kelly Fanucci, Catholic Spirit (cont d next week)

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Faith Formation for Families, Youth, Children & Adults On Saturday, March 2 n d, f r o m 6 : 0 0-9:30pm Net Ministries will be hosting an event in St Paul known as Lifeline. Lifeline is an event where youth from nearby parishes meet and have Mass, music and a presentation to energize their faith. The topic of this Lifeline is, Love is Bigger and covers the Catholic Church stance on sexuality and gender. The event is for youth between 8th and 12th grade. If interested, please contact Nathan Libra via email at NatRay- Libra@gmail.com. Space is limited, and we will be meeting here in Richfield before driving down to the event. Every Day A Prayer Sign-up to pray for the well being of our parish and parishioners by calling 612-866-5089. Sunday, February 24 Florence Habegger Monday, February 25 Joyce Korsten Tuesday, February 26 Mary Ellen DeNucci, Sue E Tvedten Wednesday, February 27 Alice & Ralph Laven Thursday, February 28 Anne Maxa Friday, March 1 Tom Egan Saturday, March 2 Good Brothers and Sisters in Christ: I am sharing with you a summary of our revenues and expenses for January 2018 and 2019. You will notice that our expenses, bequests and other revenues for the two months are very similar. Our Sunday giving is down a bit, and the biggest difference between the two months is a draw on our Endowment of $40,000 for the month of January. This fiscal year, St. Peter s is taking quarterly draws from our Endowment instead of a lump sum in July, which is the beginning of our fiscal year. The idea is to keep funds working in the Endowment for as long as possible. St. Peter s receives quarterly bills for insurance and Archdiocesan assessments, so quarterly draws on our Endowment better match our expenses and revenues. It is not a perfect match, since a bill may be paid at the end of one month in one year and at the beginning of the next month the following year. You will notice that, adjusting for the Endowment Fund draw, our two Januaries are very similar. As always, it is your support that allows St. Peter s to continue to welcomes all people, cherish the Eucharist and foster faith formation for all ages. In Christ's peace, Mike McNeil, Business Administrator & Director of Faith Formation Especially for St. Peter s Parishioners...
