Peddling Parables is an engaging play about two simple peddlers who scheme to become rich by telling the stories of the great Storyteller. As they stumble through the stories, they encounter purpose beyond what they could have imagined. Through this lively and creative performance, many will experience the New Testament parables, while others may meet the Storyteller for the first time. The program will consist of other skits, special music, a testimony, a brief college promotion, and conclude with a challenge and opportunity for altar ministry. Elements of the program will be added or eliminated to suit the time frame deemed appropriate for each event - such as Sunday morning services and school chapels. James Popoff is a Living Faith graduate whose passion to see God s heart creatively communicated led him to complete a BFA and MFA in theatre. He has travelled as an arts missionary, worked as an associate pastor and drama pastor, acted professionally and received awards for his playwriting. James is the founding artistic director of Burnt Thicket Theatre, a company committed to enlivening [restoring life to] audiences through original performance. Creation credits include: Hockey Dad: A Play in 3 Periods, Peddling Parables, Inheritance, and Twinkle. James lives in Cochrane, AB with his wife Julie and their four children. I believe that Jesus told stories to get around our rational understanding, our hang ups and our misperceptions to capture our hearts. A story well told can be used of the Holy Spirit to bring light in dark places and cause something within us to come to life. I am excited about partnering with Living Faith and exploring together with students the integration of artistic practice and Christian discipleship as we seek to tell better stories. - James Popoff
