Leading girls into a growing relationship with Jesus through the Bible, the Church, and the Holy Spirit K 5th grade Wednesdays, September May 6:30 8 p.m. Clubs are a safe place where girls feel valued, wanted, loved, and encouraged while learning about God and His purpose for their lives. There are three clubs: Daisies Kindergarten Prims 1 1st grade Prims 2 2nd grade Stars 3 3rd grade Stars 4 4th grade Stars 5 5th grade

Welcome! Stars Club For 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Girls Each year girls will be challenged to grow in their faith by studying, reading, and memorizing the Bible. Along with weekly music, crafts, and a Bible lesson, girls complete discipleship challenges to earn awards. Club Schedule Each grade has a slightly different schedule and activity line-up. Pick-up in room 8:00 pm A timely pick-up is appreciated! Extra Activities Beyond club time, some grades schedule extra activities inside and outside the club rooms. Activities include harvest parties, nursing home caroling, Last Supper reenactment, fun gatherings, and more. In addition, all clubs (K 5th grade), gather together several times during the year for activities including: Operation Christmas Child packing parties, packing meals for starving children (FMSC), Fun Night, and the Mpact Celebration*. More information regarding events will be communicated during club and via email and handouts. *The Mpact Celebration is a special service held each year to celebrate the accomplishments of all the girls in the Mpact program and honor the 5th grade Stars Club graduates. Teachers The teaching team is made up of moms who have girls in the program and/or women who are part of Cedar Valley Church. They volunteer their time, talents, and resources to make Stars the best it can be. Every volunteer has attended training and is screened with an application, references, and a background check. Parents are welcome to sit in or volunteer. For more information about volunteering, talk to one of the teachers.

Challenge/Awards Through the achievement portion of this program, girls can receive awards and ultimately Honor Star status at the end of 5th grade. The challenges are optional and are used as an incentive for memorization. Life of Christ Fruit of the Spirit Fun Night If you attend Fun Night, you receive the Fun Night charm. Held in January. Salvation Family *Charm images are subject to change. NOTE: Girls who enter after 3rd grade follow 4th and 5th grade challenges. Charts are adjusted so that Honor Star status at the end of 5th grade can still be obtained no matter what grade students enter. Questions? Ask a Stars teacher.

Tabitha (Testimony) Step 8 verses Girls practice memorizing Bible verses during club each month, but please practice verses at home as well. See below for verses and lessons. In His Image I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful. Psalm 139:14 Focus: God made me special. 1. What makes me special to God? 2. How am I different from God s other creation? 3. Are all people created by God? 4. How can I help others know they are special? Prayer Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6 7 Focus: God wants me to talk to Him about everything. 1. What is prayer? 2. What are four kinds of prayer? 3. Why do we pray? 4. Why doesn t God always answer our prayers the way we want Him to? Fitness Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19 20 Focus: I must keep my body healthy because it is God s temple. 1. Why is fitness important? 2. How do I keep my body healthy? 3. How do I keep my mind healthy? 4. How do I stay spiritually healthy? Esther And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? Esther 4:14 Focus: God will direct my steps. 1. How did God provide for His people? 2. How did God protect His people? 3. How did God use His power to help His people? 4. How did God bring peace to His people? Life of Christ Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 Focus: Jesus is the only way to God. 1. What about the birth of Jesus and His early years? 2. What did Jesus teach? 3. What are the miracles Jesus performed? 4. What about Jesus death and resurrection? Fruit of the Spirit But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22 23 Focus: Walking with Jesus makes me more like Him. 1. What is the fruit of the Spirit? 2. What are love, joy, and peace? 3. What are patience, kindness, and goodness? 4. What are faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? Salvation For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Ephesians 2:8 10 Focus: Salvation is God s gift to me. 1. Why do we need to be saved? 2. Who can save us? 3. How can I be saved? 4. Now what do I do? Family As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 Focus: God wants families to serve Him. 1. What is God s plan for the family? 2. What are God s plans for family roles and functions? 3. How does God provide for families? 4. How do we fit into God s family?

Susanna (Service) Step 11 Items Girls will practice memorizing during club, but please practice at home as well. Please use the music CD to help with song memorization. Stars Pledge Having accepted Jesus as my Savior, I will follow Him in Service, In Testimony, In Attitude, And in Relationships; Striving always to glorify my Lord as a STAR. Honor You Song Who is like You, Lord, high upon Your throne? Who is like You, God, mighty to save? Who else can I call when I am all alone? I will seek You, Lord, and sing Your praise. With all I am, in all I do Lord, I live to worship You. I m gonna raise my voice to sing for the King of Glory I want to stand, I want to say, Lord, my heart is Yours today. I want to give my life to honor You. Jesus speak to me, make me yours today. Help me show Your love, mighty to save. Calling on You, God, and following Your way I will honor You and sing Your praise.

3 Honor Steps Girls will learn these steps during club, but please practice at home as well. Honor Step The Life of Christ List 10 events in the life of Jesus (noted below) and be able to look up the references in the Bible. Girls must do their own research and fill in references. 1. Jesus Baptism 2. Jesus Feeds Five Thousand 3. The Triumphal Entry 4. The Last Supper 5. Jesus Arrested 6. Jesus Trial 7. Jesus Crucifixion 8. Jesus Death 9. Jesus Burial 10. Jesus Resurrection Honor Step The Lord s Prayer Memorize The Lord s Prayer and keep a 30-day prayer journal. (NIV or any version is acceptable). Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:9 13 Honor Step Salvation Memorize the ABC s of Salvation with verse and references. A = Admit we are sinners. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. B = Believe in Jesus to forgive our sins. Acts 16:31 Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. C = Confess our sins 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. New Testament Reading We ve broken the New Testament into three parts, one for each year as a STAR (3rd, 4th & 5th grade). Students can follow the chart or work at their own pace. When one part is complete, turn it in with a parent s signature. Remember, the goal is to read the Bible every day. Students can read it by themselves, someone can read to them, or they can use a Bible app to read it it all counts. Suggested Bible App: YouVersion Note: Reading the entire New Testament is required to achieve the Honor Star at the end of 5th grade. Check the back of this handbook for copies of the chart or see a teacher.

Approved Snack List This snack list is an adaptation of a list from a local school and contains the ONLY items that you may bring. Please remember that snacks must be store-bought and unopened. Parents should notify the teacher if their child has a continual clear runny nose due to allergies. For the safety of everyone, kids who have had any of the following symptoms within the last 24 hours will not be allowed to stay in a club room: Fever (100 degrees or higher) Diarrhea Severe coughing Yellowish skin or eyes Pink Eye (conjunctivitis) Lice Earache Toothache Green runny nose Vomiting Mouth sores (i.e. Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease) Chicken Pox Parents should notify the kids pastor at 952-854-1100 or email kids@cvchurch.org if a child has come down with the Chicken Pox; Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease; or Lice within 48 hours of being in a club room.
