CTBR 2017 TH SACTUS BLL St. Bride s piscopal Church Dear Friends in Christ, We express our great apprecia6on for the services that Father Skip Hu<on has provided to us in the past months. Like several other priests, he has given of himself spiritually and physically to provide us our ucharist and food for our souls. ow that our rela6onship has changed, we wish him our very best and hope for God s highest and best will to be accomplished. As I write this on the ve of the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels, my heart is heavy for our culture, our na6on, our state, and our world. Some of us remember the events of the Vietnam War. It seemed then that our world was in an upheaval. ur circumstances seemed to be upsemng, our mores ( a La6n word meaning moral amtudes and accepted tradi6onal customs ) seemed to be in a shambles. Sound familiar? How is the love of God in the face of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to be made manifest? How is it that people in our culture and world will learn of our God s mercy and compassion? How will it be that everyone will come to acknowledge God the Father s sovereignty? While it is pre<y heavy stuff to study St. Paul s most famous le<er to the Romans, when one does study the first chapter, for instance, we find that Paul was also figh6ng culture, encouraging the Chris6ans at Rome and being encouraged by their faith! I invite you to look, for example, at Chapter 1, verses 28-32. Do the words there remind you of our present circumstances? In the last Sanctus Bell, I asked the ques6on What is our Mission as a parish? It seems to me that our Mission is to remain a faithful remnant, a tes6mony to the power of faith and of God s love to all people. May God bless our efforts Upcoming vents 10/8 18 Pentecost and Fr. ewsy Tidbits Fr. Skip Hutton will be working with the Chapel of the Centurion at Ft. Monroe. They have only one Sunday Service, which will fit in well with his energy level. What is it like to be homeless? Join adult formation as we explore homelessness and the christian response to those in need. We are sad to announce that our Secretary, Jane, has resigned in order to devote more time to her job with the TV station. Jane is always at the door during office hours to greet guests and parishioners, and we will miss her welcoming demeanor and her excellent work ethic.

This includes living within the Catholic pattern of worship, doctrine and action; making full use of the Book of Common Prayer; and basing our spiritual life in the threefold rule of prayer - Holy ucharist (Mass), Daily ffice, and personal devotions. We strive for a strong and full Christian life - in liturgy, service, evangelization, justice, spiritual formation and parish fellowship. We seek revitalization of ourselves and invite others to share in this renewal based upon practical application of the Catholic faith to contemporary needs. SAIT BRID S CHURCH 621.
