Royal Lane Baptist Church Diverse People United in Christ THE MOSAIC April 18, 2012 Volume 26 Issue 8 From the Pastor Jesus waits somewhere in everyone s future to be discovered. Many who have known about him all their lives suddenly and surprisingly discover him, as if for the first time. The well-worn and wonderful face of the late Malcolm Muggeridge comes to mind. Muggeridge had been editor of The Manchester Guardian, Punch, and other publications when, in the latter part of his life, he was sent by the BBC on a trip to Israel to cover a proposed telecast on the life of Jesus. In reporting on the making of this telecast Muggeridge was struck by the sense of a vivid presence at the center of this project, almost as if the subject were alive. Later he wrote a book titled Jesus Rediscovered. In it he said, Yet behind all this there is a real person - - born, growing up, reaching maturity like other people; turning his mind, as I have tried to turn mine, to what life means rather than to what it provides; trudging through this self-same dust, and sheltering from this self-same sun; lying down at night to sleep, and rising in the morning to live another day. He wrote of Jesus teaching that not even a sparrow falls to earth without causing God concern. He realized that the universe is a message in code from God, which mystics, artists, and scientists strive to crack, sometimes with a measure of success, but to which Christ provides the key. In the aftermath of Easter, let us live with a sense of expectancy. Who knows what discoveries are awaiting any of us? Christ is risen! Live in expectancy. David Christ is risen! The next issues of The Mosaic are scheduled for May 2 & 16, 2012. The deadline for submissions will be 5:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the date of publication.

Youth Believing in Change 8547 Stults Road Dallas, TX 75243 (214) 692-9242 Giving children the spiritual and educational foundation they need to succeed. March 29, 2012 This letter is to ask for your prayers and support of a ministry in which God has been saving souls and changing lives for more than 16 years. The name of the ministry is Youth Believing in Change (YBC). YBC s summer program begins Monday, June 4, 2012 and runs through July 27, 2012. Each day of the program, children are fed spiritually, nutritionally and educationally. YBC serves hot meals to 150+ children daily. Daily activities include arts & crafts, Bible study, choir, drama, evangelism, guitar, piano and violin lessons. Every day from 12:30-1:30 p.m. is D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything & Read) time. During this time volunteers from age 6 and up come out and read to, or with children ages 4-12. YBC is a great ministry and a great experience for all involved. Therefore, all are invited to come out and join me in a few weeks for a barbecue dinner and enjoy hearing YBC s choir, orchestra and special guest speaker Date: Thursday, April 26, 2012, 6:30-8 p.m. Location: Highland Park Presbyterian Church (Elliott Hall) 3821 University Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75230 Our guest speaker will be Melinda Rushing. Melinda grew up in YBC. In 2010 she graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor s degree in psychology. This May she graduates from U of H with a degree in Social Work. Melinda s testimony of God working in her life through YBC is very inspiring. Please let me know if you will be my guest. Also please consider sponsoring a child to attend YBC s summer program. Most Sincerely,
