ORDER OF WORSHIP MARCH 10, 2019 Prelude Choral" Louis Vierne Judy Kabodian, organ Welcome to The Peoples Church! Rev. Case Van Kempen Worship is both personal and communal, formal and informal, intimate and casual. Here at The Peoples Church, we recognize that people come to worship God in both joy and pain, faith and doubt, with laughter and with tears. Our worship tries to reflect a desire both for meditation and celebration. Please know you are invited to participate in any and all ways you feel led. Our songs, prayers, words and actions are the works of imperfect people trying to worship a perfect God. Call to Worship (from Psalm 91) Leader: Those who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, People: My refuge and my fortress; my God in whom I trust. Leader: Those who love me, I will deliver, says the Lord. People: I will protect those who know my name. Leader: When they call to me I will answer them, I will be with them in trouble. People: I will rescue them and honor them, and show them my salvation. Hymn of Praise "Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty" No. 403 Procession of the Light of Christ Evie Laxton and Anna Harvey, acolytes Call to Confession (from Hebrews 4:15-16) Leader: Remember that our Lord Jesus Christ is able to sympathize with us in our weakness, since in every respect he was tested as we are, yet without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Prayer of Confession All: Most merciful God, whose Son Jesus Christ was tempted in every way, yet without sin, we confess before you that we have sinned; we have hungered after that which does not satisfy; we have compromised our values; we have doubted your power to protect us. Forgive our lack of faith; have mercy on our weakness. Restore in us such love and trust that we may walk in your ways and delight in doing your will; through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Assurance of Pardon Leader: God s love is sure and steadfast, always providing a way out, a way through, a way back to God. People: Through the waters of baptism, we have died with Christ and are raised with him. With gratitude, in faith, we will walk the way of Christ.
