TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH TRINITY TRUTH JULY 2014 CALL RESPONSE LETTER Zion Lutheran Church 1015 SW 18 th Ave. Portland, OR 97205 My Fellow Saints: Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We are indeed blessed to serve a gracious and loving God, who hears and answers our prayers. For these past few weeks, together we have been seeking the Lord s guidance and will concerning the Call that you issued asking me to come and serve as your pastor. In these past few days I have reached a clarity regarding that will. I am convinced that it is God s will for me to respectfully decline this call and remain here with the saints in Fountain Hills. The Lord has many reasons for leading us through a process like Calling a pastor. At these times we are challenged to deepen our prayer life and become more attuned to hearing and obeying His voice. We are also challenged to evaluate our ministries and determine how best our gifts and talents can be used for the sake of His kingdom. Even if the answer to a certain Call is not a positive yes, the blessings of God still abound. I have been particularly blessed to have met the people who make up the congregation at Zion; a warm, accepting and supportive people. I commend especially your leaders who have a heart for the lost, and a strong commitment for the Gospel. Pastor Ty, Kurt and Floy, and Tracy will be wonderful assets and partners for whoever fills the pastoral office in your midst. Your worship services and facility are second to none; far beyond the Portland area. Finally, the mission field the Lord has placed right in front of your doors is exciting. The pastor the Lord leads to you will indeed be a most blessed man. I also need to thank you for the opportunity this Call has given to me and the members of Trinity. It has challenged us to rethink and reevaluate our ministry together here in Fountain Hills. It has caused us to recognize new challenges and value consistent strengths. We will be a spiritually stronger and more courageous congregation because of this moment. Let me also thank you for the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality you showed to Cindy and me in our visit to Portland. The entire congregation could not have been more gracious, and your leaders better at giving us a perfect perspective of your ministry there. As you continue now with the Call process, know that our prayers will be joined with yours. May the Lord of the church lead you to the one who will shepherd this precious flock.
