WILL THIS WAR GO NUCLEAR? David Horowitz Saturday, July 15, 2006 Note from Pastor Kevin Lea follows this article. Here is the situation: World leaders are lining up, either on the side of the Islamic terrorists (France's Chirac and Russia's Putin) or the side of their victims (the United States and - somewhat - Great Britain). The Vatican, which has an unsavory record with regard to the periodic slaughters of the Jews, has thrown its moral weight (such as it is these days) onto the scales against the Jews. As the Hezbollah terrorists fire hundreds of rockets into Israeli cities from Lebanon, the Pope condemns Israel's attempts to destroy the rockets aimed at its citizens. Israel's chief of staff is forced to concede that those rockets can reach farther than previously thought, putting more Israelis in danger. Meanwhile, the Syrian terrorist state tells Time magazine that it could destroy Israel's nuclear sites. Hezbollah and Hamas, and their patron Iran, have sworn to remove Israel from the face of the earth - in those very words. Iran has defied the world community in asserting its determination to complete its nuclear program. Syria supports Iran, hosts Hamas and is a party to this malignant Islamic crusade, and so apparently is the international left which is lining up squarely behind the jihadists - as it has done throughout the open preparation of this second holocaust. The left's favorite apostle, Noam Chomsky, only months ago was embracing Hezbollah's Hitler, Hassan Nasrallah, and his genocidal agendas. So here is the issue: If you were Israel's prime minister, could you afford to wait until Iran attains nuclear warheads for Hezbollah's missiles? Or can you be sure it hasn't already been supplied such warheads by Russia or China through Iran? Could you afford to wait to see if Syria will supply the chemical and biological weapons it has cached for Saddam Hussein to Hezbollah and

Hamas? Or would you proceed to plan B and obliterate them now? While the Israeli prime minister ponders this question, leftists who are encouraging the forces of genocide - Hezbollah, Hamas, Syria, and Iran - might want to think how all the present bloodshed and the next terrible decisions that Israel must take to defend itself - and their consequences - will lie on their heads. David Horowitz is a nationally known author and lifelong civil rights activist. He is the founder of FrontPageMag.com. Note from Pastor Kevin Lea: I believe the answer to the headline, Will This War Go Nuclear? is yes, and when it does, it will be in exact fulfillment with Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17. On New Years Day, 2006, our Sunday morning service was a prophecy update teaching on how these two prophetic chapters could see their fulfillment this year (Click here to listen to the study titled Psalms 83 and Isaiah (1/1/06) in our topical MP3 sermon archives). Seven months later Israel and her neighbors are in an increasingly escalating war that seems destined to go all out, which in our day means possible chemical and nuclear exchange. In a study I gave on October 22, 2003, we went verse by verse through Isaiah 17 explaining how the coming war between Israel and Syria would result in the total destruction of Damascus (and other cities) as well as a severe blow being dealt to the nation of Israel (Click here to listen to the study titled prophecy update series 1 in our topical MP3 sermon archives ). Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17 deal with the immediate neighbors of Israel and especially Damascus, but some are asking, But what about Iran, they are the ones making all the threats? I believe the answer to this question is also found in the prophetic scriptures of the Bible. It should be noted that Iran is known as Persia in the Bible. According to Ezekiel 38 and 39, in the future, Iran will join with Gog and Magog (today known as the former Soviet republics), Cush and Put (Libya, Ethiopia - which today is the area of Northern Sudan and parts of Ethiopia), and Togarmah (modern Turkey) in a planned attach against Israel. According to this prophesy, as the armies are making the final move against Israel, they are destroyed by fire and brimstone, hailstones, an earthquake and by friendly fire. Ezek 38:18 "And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel," says the Lord GOD,

"that My fury will show in My face. 19 "For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: 'Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, 20 'so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.' 21 "I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains," says the Lord GOD. "Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22 "And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 "Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the LORD."' (NKJ) (Click here to listen to the study titled Prophecy update series 2 for an in depth study on the coming invasion of Israel by these nations). If we are living in the days immediately preceding this assembly of armies, then it can be predicted that any assault now by the West or Israel against Iran as a result of what is escalating between Israel and Lebanon/Syria will either fail or be insufficient to adequately reduce Iran s war making capability against Israel since the Bible clearly states that Iran (Persia) plays a part in this Ezekiel alliance. The following should also be noted about the Ezekiel 38-39 war (again assuming the current saber-rattling is leading up to its fulfillment): 1. Iraq (Babylon) is not named, nor is Syria (Assyria). These two nations are antagonists of Israel and have been throughout the centuries. Why are they not taking part? Is it because Syria has been destroyed by Israel in a precursor war prophesied in Isaiah 17 as discussed above? Has Iraq (and the American troops in them, if still there) been weakened by civil war or possibly by a missile attack from Iran or Syria? 2. America is not a player. When the armies of Ezekiel 38 are amassing, the rest of the nations of the world give a verbal protest but do not try and stop the planned assault against Israel. Ezekiel 38:13 ------ 'Have you come to take plunder? Have

you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?'"' President Bush stood alone this week in defending Israel s right to defend herself against the missiles of Hezbollah, and he has stated many times that America would defend Israel if attacked by Iran. IF we are living in the days building up to this conflict, then something must happen to prevent America from fulfilling this promise to Israel, but what could it be? The scriptures don t tell us, but let me hazard a couple guesses: In an article written July 13, 2006, titled War on Iran Has Begun David Twersky writes, Just last Friday, Iranian President Ahmadinejad warned that Israel's return to Gaza could lead to an "explosion" in the Islamic world that would target Israel and its supporters in the West. "They should not let things reach a point where an explosion occurs in the Islamic world," he said. "If an explosion occurs, then it won't be limited to geographical boundaries. It will also burn all those who created [Israel] over the past 60 years," he said, implicitly referring to America and other Western nations who support Israel. Could the president of Iran know something that the average American is unaware of? Could some of the fringe news sources who report that Iran has smuggled nuclear weapons and highly enriched uranium dirty bombs into the U.S. for use at such a time as this be accurate? If they are, then we can expect Islamic sleeper cells to become activated as soon as they see an attack on Syria (since Iran has stated that an attack on Syria is an attack on Iran) or if they see a surgical strike against Iran s nuclear facilities. If America is attacked with WMD, it is not hard to imagine that we (and our President) will lose our stomach for entering into another war by trying to prevent Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Sudan from finishing off Israel.

Even if we are not attacked, the war between Israel and Damascus resulting in the death of millions will have a devastating effect on the world economy and the price of oil. Could it be that America will suffer a collapse financially since we will no longer be able to sustain our need for global credit to finance our deficit spending, thus preventing us from defending Israel? Or does a natural disaster remove America from super power status? Only God knows, but something prevents America from being Israel s big brother in this future conflict, and that something will likely be painful to us Americans. 3. Another key to understanding the timing of Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophecy is to realize that Israel also seems to be unable to stop the Russian and Iranian troop buildup. Today, if the listed nations of Ezekiel 38 were all gathering together to invade Israel, then Israel would be compelled to launch a preemptive strike in order to assure the survival of the Jewish state. It is commonly reported that Israel has over 200 nuclear warheads that are reserved for just such a threat. But Ezekiel prophesies that God Himself miraculously removes the threat when He destroys the armies. Is it possible the Ezekiel war will follow the Isaiah 17 war, where Israel has expended all its weapons to destroy Syria in retaliation for Syria s attack on northern Israel (which, according to Isaiah 17, destroys Israel s northern military bases)? Again, time will tell, but things are going to be changing in the Middle East, and if there is any truth to the above article, it may be very, very soon. I pray the reader will in light of these detailed prophecies realize the miraculous nature of the Bible. Someone can call their Mormon stake, the nearby Kingdom Hall, or the Dalai Lama, Hindu priest or ACLU atheist and ask, What is going to happen in the Middle East? and be met with a blank stare, shrugged shoulder or an off the cuff answer. Why? Because their book of Mormon, Hindu Vedas, Buddhist writings were not inspired by the true God and therefore do not contain prophecies. Only the Bible details major future events with 100% accuracy. How can it do this? Because the Bible s true author is God Himself, speaking by the power of His Spirit through the prophets so that we could KNOW who the only true God is. Why does he want us to know Him? Because He loves us and wants us to know that the yearning in our heart is a yearning for the love that only He can give. But we cannot experience fellowship with God unless we are forgiven for our sins. God sent Jesus into the world to live a perfect life, so

that He could take our place in death, thus making a just way for us to be forgiven by the Father. I pray the reader will ponder this profound truth in light of current events in the Middle East. The Bible teaches that now is the day of salvation. Please humble yourself and admit to God that you are a sinner and then, by faith, embrace His cure for sin, Jesus. Repent (turn away) from your sinful life and ask God to forgive you based on the shed blood of Jesus. Then start to live for Him as you would anyone who rescued you from death. The alternative is eternal separation from the loving God of the Bible. Sincerely, Kevin Lea Pastor, Calvary Church of Port Orchard.
