Confidence In Our Prayers John 11:41 42 (NKJV) 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.
1 John 5:14 15 (NKJV) 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
James 1:5 7 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
The Power of Jesus Name One of the most important elements of effective prayer is using the name of Jesus. In conjunction with praying according to the Word, praying in the name of Jesus gives our prayers tremendous power. Praying with power is our focus.
We tend to believe that we can pray any kind of prayer and as long as we tack on at the end in the name of Jesus, amen it is ok. Many of us believe that the name Jesus has special power, or because the J E S U S are put together that it has supernatural power. Its not the word but what the name represents.
If you named your son Bill Gates would that make him a billionaire? If you named your daughter Oprah would that make them have a talk show? NO!!! Likewise just because we say the name, that does not imply that we are using the name.
Acts 19:12 16 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches. 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you? 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. It is not just saying it, it is understanding it and using it.
What s In The Name When the Bible speaks of a name it represents the person s collective attributes and character. It implies his nature, power, and glory. Can you give me any examples?
1 Corinthians 15:41 (NKJV) 41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. The glory of something is its best expression of itself. Maybe you have never seen your glory, which would be you at your best. Therefore to give a person a name is to give it its intentional glory.
Exodus 3:13 16 13 Then Moses said to God, Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name? what shall I say to them? 14 And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM. And He said, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.
15 Moreover God said to Moses, Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations. Now is this a name or is this a concept? He does not want you knowing the name only but the concept.
Notice that Jesus would say that he was: 1. The resurrection 2. The power and life 3. True vine 4. Bread of Life etc, etc, etc What does power of attorney mean?
Let s pray for one another The End
