August 16, 2015 Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Proverbs 9:1-6 Ephesians 5:15-20 John 6:51-58 ********************************** Baker s Dozen Those of us fortunate enough to have grown up near a neighborhood bakery know all about the baker s dozen. Buy a dozen rolls or donuts and the baker throws in a 13th for free. A little something extra special for valued customers. A nice old fashioned way to say, thanks, and we appreciate you. Ever wonder if they got the idea from God? Think of the twelve tribes of Israel or the twelve disciples. What made the baker s dozen? God Himself! When you have twelve tribes dedicated to God, well, you ve really got a pretty impressive group. But just think about that 13th. God and His angels, valued far above all the rest. The twelve disciples were truly blessed individuals. But Jesus wasn t just another piece cut from the same loaf. He s a heavenly treat waiting for the faithful who buy the whole thing. Feeling unappreciated this week? Consider the special gift God has given you, His baker s dozen. The true, eternal Bread of Life, just waiting for you to taste it. Copyright 2005 C L Enterprises

K -6th grade meet in the afternoon and 7th and 8th grade meet in the evening. Please contact Stephanie Hannasch if you are interested. 715-743-3840 We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28 The Assumption of the Virgin Mary 15 August In 1950, Pope Pius XII declared what Catholics had long believed: After Mary s death, God raised her body. She lives with God for ever. On Assumption Day we rejoice that this broken world will be made new again. The poor, the unloved and the dead will be raised again in glory. The Lord has lifted up the lowly. The Lord has filled the hungry with good things. Shares of Light is a Shining Success: Praise God for giving the great gift of generosity to His people. We have met our goal in the Shares of Light Campaign to fund Phase IV of the Renovation / Restoration project. Thank you to everyone who supported this effort in time, talent, treasure and prayer. Restoration of the windows will begin soon. Reminder to those with unpaid pledges: There are some remaining upgrades to our air circulation system that we would like to complete. In order to plan these expenses we need to know the total funds that will be available. If you have not completed paying your entire pledge for the previous fund raising campaign efforts please do your best to complete your promise. If you are unable to complete payment of the pledge amount due to a change in your circumstances, or need more time, please contact the parish office or Dr. Greg Foster. Thank you to the family of Belle Mazola-Imig for their donation to St. Mary s Parish in memory of Belle. The donation is truly appreciated. May Belle rest in peace.
