rn LOCUST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH We welcome any visitors who may be with us today. May the Lord bless our fellowship time together. Prelude Welcome & Announcements Kay Howell Call to Worship: Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. *Song of Praise: Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy Hymn #269 Hymns for the Living Church Prayer For Lent Children s Message Anthem: Blood of Jesus Be My All LPC Choir by Travis Cottrell, David Moffitt, Sue C. Smith; Arranged by Travis Cottrell Scripture: Luke 13:1-9 Sermon: Where is the Fruit *Affirmation of Faith From Articles 1 & 2 of the Belhar Confession We believe in God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who gathers, protects and cares for the church. We believe the church is one worldwide communion of saints, called from the entire human family. We believe the church is the single community of believers, reconciled with God and with one another. We believe that through the working of God s Spirit, unity is a binding force and also that we must seek this unity, which must become visible to the world. We believe that the sin of division, separation and hatred between people and groups has been conquered by Christ. We commit ourselves to protecting the unity of the church universal. We pledge to make this unity active in all of our words, thoughts and deeds. Hymn of Worship: Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us Hymn #387 Presbyterian Hymnal Prayers of the People Offering *Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. *Prayer of Dedication *Benediction Postlude The Message: Kay Howell ϯ Luke 13: 1-9 1-5 About that time some people came up and told him about the Galileans Pilate had killed while they were at worship, mixing their blood with the blood of the sacrifices on the altar. Jesus responded, Do you think those murdered Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans? Not at all. Unless you turn to God, you, too, will die. And those eighteen in Jerusalem the other day, the ones crushed and killed when the Tower of Siloam collapsed and fell on them, do you think they were worse citizens than all other Jerusalemites? Not at all. Unless you turn to God, you, too, will die. NRSV 6 Then he told this parable: A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7 So he said to the gardener, See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil? 8 He replied, Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. 9 If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.

MUSIC NOTES: The choir anthem today is Blood of Jesus Be My All. This is a great modern hymn which begins with several questions What can wash away my sin? What can cover every stain? What can flood the darkness deep within like healing rain? What can make the broken whole? What can satisfy my soul, my deepest need?
