Christmas Memories Christmas Memories Today at 1:30 - The Zion/Oakley UMC Choir looks forward to having you join us for Christmas Memories joy-filled cantata filled with favorite songs from years past along with a good, oldfashioned Christmas Hymn Sing-a-Long. This music shares some of the wonderful, happy memories that make up our past.

Christmas Memories It also reminds us to not forget to take time for the people that we are with every day and, most importantly, that we can t have Christmas without Christ. Christmas Memories will also be presented next Sunday, Dec. 20 at 1:30 at Zion Church. Refreshments will follow the performances. Free-will donation taken.

Joys and Concerns If you have a joy or concern that you would like to share discretely, you may fill out one of the brightly colored Joys/Concerns cards in the pews and they will be collected after the Children s sermon. Your prayer will be read during prayer time and published in the bulletin the following week. Also please indicate on the back of the card if you would also like the prayers shared with the prayer chain.

Prayer Calendar Word of the Day Prayer Calendar word of the day December 13 Winter Boots. If you have any word ideas for future calendars, please drop them in the WORD box at either church.

Church Magnets There is a church magnet being handed out by the ushers this morning, one for every household in our congregations. Please remember to pick yours up today.

YF Sales of God s Creation Calendars The YF is again selling God s Creation Calendars until December 6 th. Items will be delivered in time for Christmas and can be seen in the overflow room at Zion, or you can contact Dennis directly. Cost is $6 and can be paid for at the time of delivery. Checks should be made out to Zion Youth Group.

Scrip Card Program Scrip Program Reminder!! With the holidays around the corner, now is a good time to consider using the Scrip Card Program offered by the youth group. Many churches and schools are utilizing the Scrip Program. It s a great ongoing fundraiser. Each vendor that is listed also lists the percentage they will donate so it doesn t cost you, as the consumer, anything extra. Different vendors are willing to donate back different percentages. This is a great way to handle your household budget or get gifts for others.

Scrip Card Program For example, if you normally give your young driver $100/month gas allowance for their vehicle, purchase a $100 gas card instead. This way your young driver still gets their gas allowance, and the Youth will receive a percentage from the vendor and it all just costs you $100. Another example is if you normally spend $100/week on groceries at Piggly Wiggly. Purchase the $100 Piggly Wiggly card from the Youth and use that instead. Again, you get $100 worth of groceries, and the Youth gets a percentage. If you are interested in a list of vendors, please contact Dennis Pfingsten

Zion s 2016 Offering Envelopes Zion Members: Your 2016 Offering Envelopes are located in the overflow room, please pick them up at your convenience. It is helpful to the Finance Committee if you use the envelopes to be sure that your giving is credited to you. Thank you.

January-February Upper Room Devotional The January-February Upper Room Devotional booklets for subscribers at Zion are on the back table in the overflow room.

Would You Like to Service as a Liturgist? If you would like to service as a liturgist at Zion in January, February or March please sign the sheet that is on the back table in the overflow room.

From the Library Christmas at Rose Hill Farm Christmas at Rose Hill Farm by Suzanne Woods Fischer (Fiction). Bess Riehl is preparing Rose Hill Farm for her Christmas wedding, but her groom isn t who she thought it would be. Billy Lapp is far away from his Amish roots working as a rose rustler for Penn State and wants nothing to do with Stoney Ridge, his family, or Bess. And that suits Bess just fine.

From the Library Christmas at Rose Hill Farm (con t) Why should she think twice about a man who left without a word, without any explanation? It s time she moved on with her life, and that meant saying yes to Amos Lapp, Billy s cousin and best friend. But as Bess and Amos wedding day draws near, her emotions tangle into a tight knot. She loves Amos. Yet she can t forget Billy.

From the Library: Tell Me About Christmas Tell Me About Christmas by Mary Alice Jones (Childrens). The children of a family learn to understand the deeper spiritual meaning of Christmas.

A Stewardship Message: #308 Give to Grow Spiritually For a child has been born for us!...and there ll be no limits to the wholeness he brings. (Isaiah 9:6-7, The Message.) Jesus is counting on us all of us to care for all the children of the world this Christmas season. How do we as United Methodists do that best? A) By making a commitment of at least $10 to save a life through Imagine No Malaria? B) By providing items for the food pantry?

A Stewardship Message: #308 Give to Grow Spiritually C) By giving our apportionments in full this year? In my book, the answer is actually D) all of the above! These are all great ways to live our faith this holiday season! When we place our holiday gifts in the church s offering plates, 84 cents of every dollar, on average, will remain in our local church to provide for utilities, building maintenance, pastoral and staff salaries, children s and youth ministries, etc.

A Stewardship Message: #308 Give to Grow Spiritually Another 13 cents out of every dollar we give will provide signs of hope to children, youth and adults who participate in the ministries here in Wisconsin. Northcott Neighborhood House, United Methodist Children s Services, our United Methodist camps, Youth CONVOs, and campus ministries on ten different campuses to name a few. This small amount of our shared connectional giving also helps support all of our retired clergy here in Wisconsin. About 2 percent or just 2 cents helps us engage with the poor and bring healing and hope to a hurting world.

A Stewardship Message: #308 Give to Grow Spiritually These general church apportionments help us reach over 3 million church school children in conferences outside the United States. The final penny or 1 cent goes to other designated mission funds. As United Methodists we are connected. We see that connection when we know OUR CHURCH responds to disastrous events like the Ebola epidemic in Africa. As United Methodists let s celebrate the many ways hope is shared through our connectional giving this holiday season. Rev. Jean Ehnert Nicholas

The Offering Collection Did you know?? The offering collected each week from the Zion Sunday School Classes is put to use right here in our community? This year for Christmas, a donation of $150 was made from the offerings collected so far this year to the Sugar River Bank of Juda to be used to purchase gifts from their present tree presents children in the Juda area! Thank you Sunday School Classes for your weekly offerings!
