Bishop Murphy has invited every parish in the diocese to offer a monthly Holy Hour where together we pray for peace. We offer our Holy Hour for Peace on the first Saturday of the month from 3:45-4:45PM in the Worship Area. On Saturday, September 5th, we invite you to come and spend some time before the Blessed Sacrament praying for God s gift of peace to touch our wounded world. Anointing of the Sick In the past, people received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick only when they were gravely ill. However, the Church believes that the Anointing of the Sick should be experienced while we are still able to be aware of God s peaceful presence within us. You are strongly encouraged to receive this Sacrament if you are having upcoming surgery, are dealing with a chronic or debilitating illness, are suffering from addiction, mental health issues or frailty. On the first Sunday of each month, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered after the 9:30 AM Mass. Sunday, September 6th is the next date the Anointing will be offered. Special Collection Next weekend, September 5th/6th, at the Offertory we will also be collecting for our Roof and Other Major Renovations. Men s Fellowship Due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Holy Cross Men s Fellowship group will be meeting on Saturday, September 12th at 9AM in the Father Joe Room. 4

PARISH OUTREACH WHERE HAS THE SUMMER GONE? In just a few days a new school year will begin. Once again, thanks to your generosity, we have been able to provide 82 children from 36 families with new supplies. We were also able to give each child a $20 Payless gift card to use toward the purchase of shoes or sneakers. Without your continued help and your faithful spirit of sharing with others who are in need, we would not be able to do this. We would also like to acknowledge Trader Joe s, the Knights of Columbus and the children in our Vacation Bible School for their continued support. Last, but certainly not least, we would like to thank our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who sorted, packed and distributed the supplies. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way. Parish Outreach Food Pantry Next Saturday and Sunday, September 5th/6th will be our monthly Food Drive for our Parish Outreach Pantry. The following items would be most helpful: Coffee Juice Drinks Jelly Canned Fruit Canned Soup Cookies, Crackers Snacks Pancake Mix & Syrup Paper Towels Parmalot Milk Laundry Soap Dish Detergent Please check expiration dates! It will greatly assist the volunteers who stack the pantry with your donated goods. Thank you! 7
