From our Minister of Community Engagement: Dear sisters and brothers in Christ, After much prayer and reflection, I have decided to step out of my role on staff here at Albany UMC. I am grateful for every opportunity this position has provided, and especially for the grace you have extended to me as we tried many new things together. Working with you to grow our Community Garden initiative, serve our neighbors through Worship With Your Hands, connect more fully with our community s first responders, and learn more about our skills and spiritual gifts has been very fulfilling for me. It has allowed me the opportunity to take what I am learning in seminary, combine it with the things I love to do, and offer it all up to God. That is a truly amazing blessing! At this time of transition for our parish, I feel confident that my work here has reached a natural conclusion. As AUMC joins with Mt. Tabor UMC and Oak Grove UMC, the nature of our community and our ministries will change. We will need to discern together what God is calling us to do in our area. The time seems right for me to step back and open up space for others to lead. Of course, I am a new mom now. I understand this to be an example of God s perfect timing: that I should be feeling called to spend more time at home at exactly the time that our congregation is being called to grow in a new way. I look forward to worshipping and serving alongside you in 2019 as we continue on this journey together! Yours in Christ, Janelle The choir and hand chimes will be on winter hiatus during January and February. We look forward to starting a new year of music in March (weather permitting). The exact date and time will be announced during Sunday services as well as in the newsletter. We TRULY NEED more volunteers for both groups. Rehearsing is a 45- minute commitment once a week. All that is required is a desire to contribute making a joyful noise to the Lord. Every Sunday we hear beautiful singing from the congregation,so we know that there are many of you who could bolster the choir membership. Please consider giving one or both groups a try come March. Contact either of us by phone (765-284-4959) or talk to one of us on a Sunday morning. Cheryl and Dennis Wasson 5 P a g e

An article reprint from The Christian Post in 2014 10 New Year's Resolutions Every Christian Should Make With Christmas now behind us, 'tis the season for hoping to live a better, more fulfilling life in the following year. I'll save you the work of coming up with a list of resolutions for the new year. Here are 10 New Year's Resolutions Every Christian Should Make: Resolve to stay faithful to Jesus Christ. He is the one Truth, Way and Life. There's no reason to look elsewhere. Resolve to not let anything a career, a significant other, social media, a house become an object of worship. Resolve to watch your language and not speak any destructive talk, especially involving the name of God. Resolve to prevent burnout by putting aside work one day a week. Trust God to provide for your needs that day and just enjoy the time He's given you. Resolve to talk to your parents on a regular basis, and show them love and respect. Resolve to be angry less. Channel any feelings of rage, which Jesus said are as severe as murder, into worshiping God and serving others. Resolve to honor your commitment to your spouse. Whether in thought or in deed, stay pure and loyal in the union God made. Resolve to not take anything that's not yours, including stuff you can hold and put in your pocket, and plenty that you can't, like music downloads, streaming movies and hours on your timecard. Resolve to speak about others only with truth and love, not gossip. Resolve to be content with what you have, and not worry about that others are amassing. If these sound familiar, good! SHARE these New Year's resolutions to encourage people to live a life that honors God. 6 P a g e
