Reaching The Unreached Four years ago the Oklahoma State FWB Mission board approved an innovative and exciting ministry called Reaching the Unreached. We learned that per month would support a FWB trained pastor and his family and allow them to plant churches among the unreached people groups in Ivory Coast. We inaugurated RTU Ivory Coast with a trip in June 01 with the hope and prayers that it would bear fruit and multiply. After a recent follow-up trip three and a half years later, we see that it certainly has! In November 015 Gary Curry and Mike Cousineau visited with seven of the nine planters discussing growth, goals, plans and problems. We were very impressed, encouraged and overjoyed with the results. We observed and visited new church buildings, new congregations and new Christians. As we visited the planters, there was a common chorus of expressing great appreciation to their U.S. partners. There were also the common prayer requests for such items as spiritual and numerical growth; health of the family; land to buy and construction of church buildings. We witnessed innovative platforms in action and in the strategic planning phases of evangelizing new villages. They are: Starting a women s group with a co-op gardening project. Starting a nursery school for the working women to leave their children when they go to the fields to work. Starting basic reading classes in new villages. Starting a first-aid clinic. Let me share a few highlights of some of the fascinating stories we heard: A planter going into a new village looking for a person of peace and finding him as an uneducated orphan of 15 years old with one leg. He was saved and baptized and anxious to serve the Lord. He wanted a bicycle (remember he only has one leg) and we were able to provide the money to buy one. New villages accepting the planters, even though they haven t accepted the Message yet. The desire and drive to go to notably the most powerful fetish village in northeast Ivory Coast and being allowed to sleep in the village and greet the people the next day. A church will be planted in this village for the glory of God! Meeting a new convert and seeing pictures of him publicly burning his fetishes. One observation I made was the relationship that has developed with RTU church planters, 100i and Rejoice Bilingual Academy. All are benefiting greatly from RTU. As I visited Pastor Konoté at one of his churches in Angaye, I noticed they were worshipping in a newly constructed building. A team with the 100i organization had constructed a large shelter so that worshipers could be out of the sun and weather two years ago. Later as the church congregation could afford materials, a concrete floor was poured and walls, windows and doors were put into place. Pastor Konoté started ministering to a sick lady with 9 children. Her husband had abandoned her leaving her with the youngest children. Ruth came to the Lord and started serving Christ at Angaye. This new school year at the Rejoice Bilingual Academy in Tanda, a dormitory was opened and her three children now attend the school and are in the dorm. She is now serving as a house mother taking care of the young resident students. That is where we met her, pouring her life into those children. Reaching the Unreached is changing lives for eternity by investing in church planters who are sharing the Good News message all across the Ivory Coast and planting new FWB churches along the way. New church planters are being trained at this time. Your church can provide the entire salary and living expenses for one of these church planters and his family for a month. If you d like more information or would like to support one of these new planters, contact board member Gary Curry at (580)0-17. Thank you for helping us take the Good News message to those who have never heard!

Some of my earliest memories of being in church are from my very first years in Sunday School. We would sing simple songs and hear simple lessons from the Word of God about Jesus. We would sing the B-I-B-L-E yes that s the Book for me. We would sing Jesus Loves Me this I know for the Bible tells me so. We would sing Jesus Loves the Little Children, All the Children of the World. The lessons would follow our singing and always taught us in an easy to understand way about God s greatness and His great love for us. How blessed I was to have parents that took me to church and taught me to recognize God s Word as the authority for every realm of my life. We live in a world today so filled with fear, hate and uncertainty. So many folks today grow up believing that there is no single authority for life. Instead of being taught that the Bible is the authority for living, they are taught that everyone must decide for themselves what is right and wrong. We are witnessing daily the tragic results of such teaching. Far too many children are growing up without the assurance that an Almighty Creator God not only knows them personally but loves them abundantly. This year I want to watch for every opportunity to share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ with everyone who will listen. Sometimes I am guilty of despairing over the sad state of our world instead of living in the joy that I have in Christ daily. While I m not much into New Year s resolutions ( I have failed too often to keep them). I am very much into resolving to do better. Will you join me in an effort to be a faithful witness of God s mercy and grace. You see Jesus still loves us, this I know. Jesus still loves the little children, all the children of the world, and the B-I-B-L-E is still the book for me. HAVE A GREAT YEAR!!!!!! Bro.
