Our system, three years in the making, derives from our founder s (Tutu) matrilineal Vodou bloodline and her family lineage as patron of the twin energies called Marassa (Divine Twins/Ibeji), as well as Osumare or Aida Wedo. Is This a Secret Society, Mystery School or Similar? Osumarassa Consciousness is a course that leads to participation in a society of women. There s some confusion out there about the difference. True mystery schools are hidden from view. Meaning a mystery doesn t get shared on the web. Those classes listed as such are using the name incorrectly. Secrets get shared, mysteries remain behind closed and often locked doors. That said, consider this is a course as an introduction to concepts used in feminine energetic society or a woman secret society. Are Men or Varied Sexual Orientations Allowed? While men are not forbidden, the roles we play and work within the society are to rebalance the inner feminine with the masculine within from a woman perspective. Anyone who fits into this definition of our system is welcome to participate. However, as a spiritual system for self-actualizing, we strongly discourage changing who and what you are inside to fit into something external. Do We Honor Special Days or Sacred Days? 6
Yes, some sacred days are in place to support seasonal restorations and inner changes. But YOU always have the choice of doing something else. This is NOT a requirement for this course; the days are there to help you. As a Woman s Group, Do We Work With the Moon? Yes, the moon and water are two of our main focus areas for emotional freedom and self-governing. However the type of person who will be attracted to this course has other options. Why do we Focus on Particular Elements? (advanced question) We use all the elements of course. However, this group *primarily work with water and air as our foundation for spiritual transformation, due to the bio-constitution of those who are attracted to this path. This has the greatest impact. Breathing Techniques Water Rituals and Alchemy (Physical, Mental, and Spiritual) Is This a Religion? Osumarassa Consciousness is not a religion; we offer guidelines, and yes, there's etiquette, and there are boundaries. Beyond that, you learn skills for self-discovery and eventually tools to help you start your own women's group. If you are looking for a solution which bridges the paths of African diasporic religions, eastern philosophy, sacred geometry, and modern science, you may find our course deeply beneficial. We encourage CHANGE and GROWTH beyond the level of each course. Is There Animal Sacrifice? Although this course is rooted in Vodou, we abstain from animal sacrifice. Some say there s no African Spirituality without animal or blood sacrifice. While there s truth to this and all religions employ a form of blood sacrifice, we have chosen a path of symbolic sacrifice to help open the system to more people worldwide and to share the metaphysics behind sacrifice as a tool. This is both purposeful and necessary for this path. We explain this in detail to our students. 7
I Want to Be Initiated Into Traditional Vodou, Will You Do That? No, we do not do traditional initiations. Also, Tutu s primary spiritual lineage is by birth not through initiation. Keep in mind; modern initiations became important due to the disembodiment of African spiritual traditions around the world. We are here to offer a new path to understanding so you can build your lineage. Traditional system initiations still have their role and can be useful to many. You may still want a traditional initiation. One does not limit the other. However, keep in mind an initiation simply means the ACTION OF STARTING something. It is an INTRODUCTION or COMMENCEMENT of something through action. So in a way ALL classes you take (including school, college, work, etc.) is by default an initiation or orientation into a course or a system. You may also notice a graduation and commencement CEREMONY at the end before you are led to share what you know with the world. By taking action and enrolling into our course, you are initiated into the Osumarassa Consciousness by default. We choose not to call it that to avoid confusion and misinterpretation. How do I know if this right for me? First, connect with your inner self, your guides and ancestors, your family and anyone whose wisdom you need to consider to make a sound decision. Do not take this lightly. Take as long as you like. If uncertain, then you may need to hold off. Students who are familiar or have a basic understanding of altars, shrines, metaphysics, alchemy, spells, magic, herbs will do well as this course builds on fundamentals that are easily available online. This course is ideal for the empath, the life learner, the highly sensitive, the introvert, the intuitive, the spiritualist, and those who seek a path towards priesthood or service using a Modern Vodou and West African diaspora spirituality as a foundation. Why Was This Course Developed? There are many personal reasons which will be shared in class. However, it is useful to know that many outside of traditional African and other world systems get initiated into those systems, borrow and transfer that information into new world systems. This is very common. There are a gap in sharing and a lack of respect for African-based traditions worldwide. In spite of being a massive 8
continent three times the size of the US, it is shocking that its spiritual gifts are usurped by others or relegated to the lowest level of possibilities for self-actualization.
