REFLECTIONS For when we cease to worship God, we do not worship nothing, we worship anything. G. K. Chesterton What are you really living for? It's crucial to realize that you either glorify God, or you glorify something or someone else. You're always making something look big. If you don't glorify God when you're involved in a conflict, you inevitably show that someone or something else rules your heart. Ken Sande Resolving Everyday Conflict And now brothers, I will ask you a terrible question, and God knows I ask it also of myself. Is the truth beyond all truths, beyond the stars, just this: that to live without him is the real death, that to die with him the only life? Frederick Beuchner The Magnificent Defeat

Thank you. PRELUDE We Praise, We Thank arr. Ruth Elaine Schram Please use this time for prayer and meditation as we prepare to go before the living God in worship. CALL TO WORSHIP: from Psalm 96 Pastor: Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! Pastor: Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength! Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! Pastor: Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him all the earth! Come, let us worship. P R A I S E HYMN OF PRAISE: 12 Exalt the Lord, His Praise Proclaim PRAYER OF PRAISE AND THE LORD'S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen. 2

C O N F E S S I O N SCRIPTURE READING: Exodus 34:5-9 5 The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of 6 the Lord. The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the 8 children's children, to the third and the fourth generation. And Moses quickly bowed his 9 head toward the earth and worshiped. And he said, If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance. Leader: This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN: Almighty and merciful God, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to the world in Christ Jesus, our Lord. And grant, O merciful God, for his sake, that we may live a holy, just, and humble life to the glory of your holy name. Amen. SILENT REFLECTION AND CONFESSION WORDS OF ASSURANCE & PEACE OF GOD: based on Ephesians 1:7-10 Pastor: Because of his sovereign and undeserved love, God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, the Beloved, and you have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of your trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ, Pastor: this according to his plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. The peace of Christ be with you all. And also with you. HYMN: 55 To God Be the Glory 3

C O M M I T M E N T OFFERTORY PRAYER OFFERTORY Count Your Blessings arr. Faye Lopez Presentation of tithes & offerings DOXOLOGY (Hymnal, page 731) AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: from Romans 5:1-10 Leader: Church, as you have faith in Jesus Christ, what is your standing before God? We have been justified by faith and we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Leader: Leader: As those who are now justified, at peace with God, and abiding in his grace, how do you view suffering in this life? We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. What was your condition when Christ first loved you? While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. If while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, how much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. RESPONSE: 735 Gloria Patri PRAYER OF INTERCESSION HYMN: 337 O Spirit of the Living God st. 1-4 4

P R E A C H I N G O F T H E W O R D SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 3:20-21 20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, 21 according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. SERMON: Glory Days Rev. Jeff Pate HYMN: 337 O Spirit of the Living God st. 5,6 RESPONSIVE READING: Pastor: Pastor: Pastor: Pastor: C O M M U N I O N Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right for us to give thanks and praise. With joy we praise you, gracious God, for you created heaven and earth, made us in your image, and kept covenant with us even when we fell into sin. We give you thanks for Jesus Christ, our Lord, who by his life, death, and resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. Therefore we join our voices with all the saints and angels and the whole creation to proclaim the glory of your name. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
