Lenten Book Study: Our Lenten book Study will be using the Bishop s selection this year, the book - Being Christian by Archbishop Rowan Williams. It is just a four-week study after our coffee hour each Sunday between March 1st and March 22nd. Confirmation Classes This year s Confirmation Classes will begin Thursday February 26 th. The course is open to all people and is especially for young people who are currently in Grade 8 and up. The course will run on Thursday afternoons, 4:30-6pm, from February 26 th through to the Confirmation Date set for June 7 th. All people who are interested in taking part should contact Elliott (esiteman@stlukesburlington.ca) for a registration package. If you are seeking information, wanting to be confirmed, or desiring to reaffirm your baptismal covenant then this course is for you. Speakers Lunch Group The aim of the Speakers Lunch group is to foster awareness among parishioners of happenings & endeavours in the wider community that may be worthy of interest & support. The group meets at 11:30 am on the second Thursday of each month for social time, followed by a Bring Your Own Lunch & a talk by the speaker of the month. BAKE SALE IN SUPPORT OF THE MADAGASCAR MISSIONS Sunday March 1st, during coffee hour We will be holding a bake sale in support of Mary Sherwood s work at the orphanage and inner city youth centre in Madagascar. The orphanage especially has faced a number of financial challenges this past year including a fire. Now Mary has made a special appeal to her supporters for emergency funds to help pay for radiation treatments for the director of the orphanage, who is battling cancer. They need to raise over $4500 to cover these costs. Any excess funds raised will go into a health care fund for the children. We hope you can help, by baking something for the sale and/or buying some of the delicious items that will be offered. More details to follow. Thank you for supporting Mary and the children at this very difficult time.
