Fourth Sunday of Advent: Revelation and Peace Scripture: Luke 2:10-14 (Sunday School Child to read) Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests. Candle Lighting: Relight the first two purple candles and the pink candle and then light the last purple candle; as you are lighting the candles say: Priest: Today we relight the candles of expectation and hope, recalling God s promise; the candle of Preparation, remembering the voice crying in the wilderness, urging the people to prepare the way of the coming Lord; and the candle of Proclamation, reminding us of the joy found in HIM. Now we light the candle of Revelation and Peace. We celebrate the announcement of the coming King and the greatness of God s love revealed through the Christ child. Prayer: (Priest) Father, we thank you for revealing yourself though Jesus, and we praise you for the greatness of your love. Help us to share your peace with others and live our lives more like Christ every day. In His name we pray. Amen. WEEK 4 Come and light the candles on the Advent ring, scattering the darkness till the world shall sing. Mary, full of courage, echoing God s yes, going on the journey God will greatly bless.

African Child Trust We still need some more supporters of the African Child Trust sponsorship scheme if we are to meet our target of keeping our four sponsored orphan children in education through 2018. Please see me for details if you would be happy to become a new sponsor. For those of you existing members who have not yet paid this year's amount, please pass it to Colin Monk or myself as soon as you can. Tony Rice-Oxley
Bonus Ball The new period for the bonus ball starts on Saturday 30 th December. Please remember that to 'win it you must be in it'! Last day for paying for the next period is WEDNESDAY 27th December. Any not paid by that date, their numbers will be put into suspension for the whole period. As there is a carry forward of a roll over amount into the next period it would be a very good idea to be in it! Tony Rice-Oxley St. George s Magazine The new format for the Church Magazine St George s News seems to have been well received; we now need more contributions of interesting material to publish! If you find you have a quiet time over the Christmas holidays, how about writing an article for the magazine perhaps on an interest or hobby, or a Charity that you are involved with or on a church activity, events that have taken place or are to happen in the future or an account of a holiday or visit to somewhere of interest; or on something else that s completely different! We are keen to receive original material for publication - with colour photos or illustrations if available. We will also sometimes print material copied from other publications if it has some strong relevance to St George s but only with the written permission of the author for copyright reasons.so please help us to further improve the magazine by supplying lots of articles for us to publish! Please forward to feedback@stgeorgesnews.org or hand to John Johnson. Pop-up Cinema on Thursday 28 th December at 7.30pm in St. George s Hall. Based on a true story.
