This is an incentive that was initiated 3 years ago throughout the three dioceses of the downstate New York Region (The Archdiocese of New York, the Diocese of Brooklyn, and the Diocese of Rockville Centre) in an opportunity to offer all Catholics an opportunity to prayerfully prepare their hearts for the coming celebration of Christmas. We will also have Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the main church throughout the evening. Please consider taking this opportunity to prepare your heart for the coming of the Savior and come home to confession! Bring yourself or your whole family. Why not take a break from Christmas Shopping and join us for a beautiful afternoon in the Main Church. Following Lessons & Carols please join us for our annual Lighting of the Parish Christmas Tree at the rectory ALL ARE INVITED The Third Sunday of Advent Gaudete Sunday This 3 rd Sunday of Advent, the Church throughout the world rejoices in the joy that awaits in the coming of Christmas. Traditionally known as Gaudete Sunday, the meaning of which comes from the Latin word Gaudete meaning Rejoice. The word also comes from the first word of the Entrance antiphon or Introit of the Mass: Gaudete in Domino Semper, iterum dico, Gaudete (meaning Rejoice in the Lord always, I say it again, rejoice. ) (Philippians 4:5). The Church also marks the midpoint of Advent by the lighting of the rose candle and the priests and deacons wear rose colored vestments which lighten the mood of the somber violet that the penitential nature of Advent beckons our hearts towards. The Church is called to rejoice in the glory of the King that is forthcoming into the world and the theme of the readings of the day also beckons us to an exuberance of joy. It is in this spirit of joy that we also intensify our preparations through prayer and quiet reflection so that we can recognize the newborn Savior in our midst as we continue to prepare for Christmas. For as St. Augustine writes: Let us recognize Him just as He revealed Himself to the world through the eyes of faith. Let us use the opportunities presented to us in these remaining weeks of Advent to lift our hearts into the true spirit of the season joy and peace! Blessed Gaudete Sunday to all!!! The dates for Services at our Parish are as follows Blessed 3 rd Sunday of Advent! 3 rd Sunday of Advent (December 11) Lessons & Carols @ 3:00pm will replace Solemn Vespers 4 th Sunday of Advent (December 18) Solemn Vespers @ 4:00pm

They are also accepting monetary donations to help defray the cost of the hams they hope to give each family for their Christmas meal. Your support is greatly appreciated.
