Coming Events THIS WEEK TODAY! Youth Pool Party All incoming 6th through 12th graders are invited to the Boles (1671 S 1233 W, Lexington, IN) tonight, from 5p-7:30p for a pool party. Bring your swimsuit and come ready to have fun! If you need a ride, you can meet Randy at our church building by 4:45p. (Parents are welcome to stay and visit!) Prayer Everyone s encouraged to participate in church-wide prayer times every Tuesday night at 6p in the Sanctuary. NEXT WEEK Derby Dinner Trip Everyone is invited to join the 55+ Friends for a trip to Derby Dinner Playhouse s matinee showing of Southern Fried Nuptials on Wednesday, September 13th. The bus will leave from our church building at 10:30a. Tickets cost $34 if we have at least 20 people going. (Contact Connie before making payment.) Checks should be made out to Connie Dalgleish. COMING SOON The Inheritance Women s Study All you busy women wanting to charge your batteries in God s Word and fellowship with other sisters - we have a new Beth Moore study for you. It will be held on Thursdays at 6:30p from September 7th through November 2nd. We ll meet in the Young Adults classroom (first room on the left after getting off the elevator at the second floor). This study doesn t require homework, but it does require your willingness to come ready to listen, engage and let the Word soak in as we watch and discuss a 60 minute video. To participate, sign up in the lower auditorium or write Beth Moore study on your communication card to reserve your listening guide. Women s Study & Activity Group Looking to grow spiritually with other women? On September 7th our women s study and enrichment activity group will resume every Thursday on the 2nd floor at Eggleston (enter at the 3rd St doors). The study begins at 6p, followed by a craft activity at 7p for anyone who would like to participate. We re reading and discussing Phyllis Shirer s Armor of God. Opportunities & Notices GIVING & SERVING OPPORTUNITIES Community Meeting Are you interested in learning how you and our church can help combat the substance abuse and suicide problems in our community? Anyone interested is invited to a Faith-Based Community Breakfast Meeting on Tuesday, August 29th from 7:30a-9a at the KDH Conference Center Oak Rooms 1 and 2 (1373 E State Rd 62, Madison). (Breakfast available beginning at 7a.) Jefferson House We re collecting items for the Jefferson House, a local inhouse rehab program for men with alcohol and drug addictions. They especially need paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies. Items can be dropped off in the lower auditorium. (Please label donations Jefferson House so we know what ministry you are donating to.) Clothing Giveaway Help Church in the Grass (our ministry at Woodside trailer park) is holding a clothing give away on Sunday, August 27th, from 3p- 6p. We re looking for people willing to help sort clothes (see below), transport clothes, set up, tear down, pray with shoppers, and help unload the clothes afterward. If you re interested in helping, please write Clothing Giveaway on your communication card or contact Matt Johnson at 812-599-4185. Clothing Sorting Help If you d like to help sort clothes for our giveaway (see above), we d love to have your help! Feel free to stop by the tables in our basement. Coordinating labels and boxes are available there for you to use. Clothing Donations Thank you to everyone who has donated to our clothing giveaway! To help us prepare, any further donations need to be pre-sorted by size in separate bags or boxes with the boxes or bags labeled with what size items they contain. Sorted and labeled donations can be dropped off in the lower auditorium or at Kelly s office by Wednesday, August 16th. NOTICES/REMINDERS Health Screenings What you don t know can hurt you! Learn your risk for developing chronic diseases at a Life Line Screening preventative health event on Tuesday, August 22nd here at First Baptist. Lifeline provides noninvasive, painless health screenings. The first 7 people to pre-register on the sign up sheet in the lower auditorium will receive a $25 discount off any package priced at $139 or more. Bulletin announcements are due the Thursday before the Sunday you d like it printed. Guidelines for writing one are available outside our office.
