Lamm Lights God Bless America First of all I would like to thank the membership, for giving me the opportunity to fill in as your Post Commander for the remainder of Juan s term and possibly longer after the elections in May. My promise to you, is that I will always respect the position given to me and I will do my job to the best of my ability to represent our Post in every way possible. I would like to take thank time to thank our prior Commander, Juan Gonzalez for the great job that he did while representing our Post. I would like to wish Juan he best with all of his medical issues that he is dealing with. It takes a lot of work to keep our Post up and running. I would like to thank our President of Enterprise, Paul Laurenzi and the members of our Enterprise board for their hard work. I would also like to thank our Executive board members and our delegates, without them we would not be able to get anything accomplished. My hope for the future is to be able to expand on Americanism and Children & Youth programs which are a part of the Four Pillars of the American Legion. I realize that we already have the Coloring contest on Flag Day, American Legion Baseball and Boys State to mention a few. How great it would be if we would have a few more members to help us run our programs and possibly come up with some other ways to help make our programs even better. I cannot say enough about our Lamm Post Auxiliary, they are a great organization that mean so much to us. They have wonderful events and programs that they run, as well as helping us run ours. If any of our male members have spouses that may be interested in joining the Auxiliary, please have them contact one of their members for more information. They would love to have them join and become a part of their unit. I would love to see more of our membership come to the meeting. I am including your spouse, children or significant others. They are a part of our Legion family and should be included (at the members discretion). We have the lounge available with WI-Fi or them to use while we conduct our meeting upstairs. After the meeting we can join them in the Lounge for a nice get together. Whenever I mention veteran members, I am including both men and women. If anyone has any ideas for the Post, whether it is regarding an event that we are having or anything that you are interested in, please bring it to the attention of one of the Post vice commanders. I hope that you have a great month, and look forward to seeing you at the next membership meeting. For God & County Phil English, Commander

Lamm LIghts page 6 RECOGNIZING A STROKE During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics)..she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. Theygot her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00PM Jane passed away) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ It only takes a minute to read this.aneurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn! Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e.chicken Soup) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue! NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. I have done my part. Will you?

Please join us on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Post Lounge. Thank you to all of our Sons members. Wayne Sorrentino, Lamm Post Sons Advisor Lamm Post Membership 2018-2019 Paid membership for 2019 is now at 323 as of 3-14-19 with 104 members not yet renewed. Our goal this year is 357 this means we are currently at 90.48% of our target goal. If your membership card reads 2018 or earlier, please mail in your $45 dues for 2019 to help us get to 100% this year. I ll get your membership card out to you PDQ. Please also help recruit any veteran and any former Legionnaire you meet to join our Post. We need new people and new ideas to keep our Post moving forward, staying vibrant and working with our local community to assist all vets. We do lots of great things over the course of the year, not to mention the great camaraderie at our monthly meetings and events. Thank you for any help you can provide to increase our membership. Every current member (Legionnaire, Auxiliary or Sons) is a recruiter who can help us achieve the goal to get a new member (or two). During our March 13th Membership meeting, 10 of our newest members were initiated into The American Legion Family at Lamm Post, including Frank H. Lamm, who is a second cousin to our Post s name sake, George F. Lamm. Welcome everyone to the best Post in Erie County. We wish you a very long and enjoyable association here. Thank you to all of our members for your efforts toward our membership goal. As you recruit a new Legionnaire, don t forget to recruit the spouse and the children! Thank you. Wayne P. Sorrentino, 1st Vice Commander / Membership ChairmanLamm Post Tuesday Night Bingo Tuesday Night Bingo is a very important fundraiser for the Post. Workers and players are needed to keep us going. We play Bingo on Tuesday nights, starting at 7:30 pm. Doors are normally open by 5:00 pm. Workers are needed to assist with the various duties involved with the Bingo session, by arriving prior to 6:00 pm to help sell Bingo boards and specials, or to work in our Concessions area, whichever spot your interests & talents take you. If you cannot help out every week, at least help us twice a month, perhaps, or once a month as it suits your very busy schedule. Please call me at 891-5164 and I ll help you get involved. Please ask your friends and neighbors to play Bingo with us on Tuesday nights. We have a very nice group who support our Post and enjoy their Tuesday evenings with us every week. Thank you. Wayne P.
